Trade Rapidash for Tangela?
Two Gameboy Color systems sitting side by side, set up for a trade. Gold Version slotted into the purple one and Yellow Version almost indistinguishable from the Gameboy of the same color.
Fifty-six hours clocked and one hundred and forty-nine Pokemon captured in Yellow. Almost eighty hours and seventy Pokemon in Gold.

Fingers hovered over the A button on both systems. This was the last trade. Only one Pokemon was missing from Yellow's Pokedex and this trade would add it.
The desire to complete the Pokedex for the first time was placed on hold by the wish to keep it incomplete.

How many times had the save file been corrupted by nothing, insuring that this point was never reached? How many times had the Continue option disappeared leaving New Game as the only choice?
Fingers moved to hover above the B button. Memories of fun times with so many different Pokemon brought by so many save files.
The trade has been canceled.
But, how many more times would this happen? Both Yellow and Gold were showing signs of age and not all of the corrupted saves could be attributed to nothing. Age was the reason for the last several New Games.
Even if it was only nostalgia, the desire for the game to remain incomplete was strong. The first completed game would never be replaced.

Then again, Yellow Version would never be complete without trying out the Surfing Pikachu mini game at least once. One quick Stadium play through could get the Surfing Pikachu.
And then what? What happens after Yellow is complete? Another New Game? It wouldn't feel right saving over the first completed save file.

Perhaps it won't be that bad. Even when the save battery fails, this would be the one thing that would always be remembered.
The first completed game and possibly the last chance to get it. If the trade didn't happen now, it might never happen. The game is old and won't last forever.

Yes.
