You see... I was watching Blue Exorcist and I heard Shiro's (Japanese) voice and suddenly went 'HAAAAAWWWW THATS LEORIO! OMG U HAVE TO WRITE A FIC ABOUT THIS!'
And here we are.
I do not own either of these shows.
Enjoy.
Who knew this would happen?
Who knew how dangerous and horrible Nen was?
Who knew that the more you used Nen, the less time you had?
Leorio hadn't known.
Leorio had been scared as he watched his friends writhe and scream as their Nen took complete control over their bodies. Changing them from humans to demons.
And the kinder you were, the worse your Nen made you.
Leorio had watched Gon beg for Leorio to kill him. Scream and cry and squirm and beg for Leorio to put him out of his misery as he went from sweet naive Gon to the worst demon of all.
Satan.
And Leorio regretted his choice to let his friend suffer, hoping there was a way to fix him. Yet he was wrong.
Nen had lulled everyone into a familiarity and security. A trust it had used to turn good people into monsters.
After Gon's turning and creation of Gehenna, Leorio quit his position as a doctor to become an exorcist. Someone who could protect those who had been left behind by Nen's sinister clutches.
And many former Nen users joined him.
And then he met Yuri, who he found out had fallen in love with Satan.
And then she had his children.
Gon's children.
And every time they smiled at him, they looked just like Gon. They were as naive. They were just as innocent. They were happy.
And Leorio couldn't leave them behind.
So he protected them. He raised them as if they were his own.
Becaused he owed Gon that much. He owed Gon these children's lives, no matter what they did or what he'd become.
And then Rin opened the gate to Gehenna. Gon's world.
And Gon came back, and housed himself inside Leorio's body.
Forcing him to talk to his children while whispering in his ear,
"Why? Why did you let me suffer, Leorio? Why didn't you kill me Leorio? I just wanted the pain to stop. I just wanted to see Killua and Kurapika again. Remember? They got freedom. They let the pain stop. Why not me Leorio?"
And just like that, Leorio was gone. The monastery was replaced with endless sky and clouds. And Leorio appeared to be standing on air.
"Oi, old man! You awake?" A familiar voice called out to Leorio.
"Killua?" He whirled around to see the white-headed Assam standing next to the blond Kurta.
"Been a while, eh?" The kid responded.
Leorio felt his non-existent eyes well with tears. It was good to see his old friends as he had known them.
"Now 'old man' really is an accurate title." Kurapika joked. Leorio smiled.
"Is there a place after this?" Leorio asked.
"I think so," Killua began, "But we're waiting for Gon before we go there."
"Then I'll wait with you. I've still gotta apologize."
"We've got some catching up to do anyway." Kurapika smiled at Leorio, then at Killua.
And they all waited, waited and waited for months. But to them it felt like days.
And one day, the small green-clad young adult showed up. Taller than he had been when Leorio had last seen him like this.
"Gon!" Killua ran right up to him. "You've gotten tall."
"Killua! You're the same height!" Gon shouted. His bubbly happy tone restored.
"How? How are you you again?"
"My sons." Gon stated. "They killed me. And that destroyed my Nen." Gon explained.
"I'm sorry Gon!" Leorio shouted, bowing to his friend.
"Don't worry Leorio. I'm not mad. It's alright. We can all go now."
Suddenly Gon began to shrink until he was the same height and age as when he had first turned.
"Yeah, let's go." Kurapika spoke up.
Leorio and Killua nodded.
And then they were gone.
