Leon the father

"Can I help you sir?" The elderly lady asked, startling Leon from his thoughts.

"N-no I'm just…looking." He said.

She nodded walking off to help a couple.

A dad….A dad…A DAD.

Those were his exact thoughts.

He had come home tired and expecting to find you waiting for him at the door. He'd take you in his arms and you'd comfort him. That was the way it had been since you'd moved in three months ago. But you were nowhere in sight. So instead he'd turned to taking a shower only to find a positive pregnancy test on the counter.

His face paled over just thinking about it. He sat down in a nearby rocking chair.

He'd tried calling you but you didn't answer. He tried sitting on the couch but he couldn't sit still. He tried lying on the bed but he kept rolling over and sitting up. He tried pacing but the apartment felt too small so he opted for a walk. Just his luck to end up outside of a nursery store. He decided it couldn't hurt to take a look and he had been there ever since.

He stood up from the rocking chair something catching his eye.

It was a crib bedding set designed to look like a football field. He smiled. What if it was a boy? He was a man and as such would enjoy having a son greatly. He would teach him everything he knew. He ran a hand over the soft material a smile gracing his features. Yes a boy what would his name be? Another Leon? No, no. Maybe he would take his father's middle name. Scott Kennedy. No you wouldn't like that at all.

He was about to continue thinking of names when the bedding next to the football one caught his eye.

It was a mix of pink and purple and littered with things like crowns, and wands, and fairies, and such. His smile grew wider.

What if it was a girl? He knew she'd be beautiful. With a mother that looked the way you did it was impossible not to be. He ran a hand through his hair. Yes she'd be beautiful and he'd do everything in his power to protect her. He would never let her see the things that he's seen. And when she stared to date….. The smile fell from his face, she would never date.

"A new father huh?" the elderly woman asked.

Leon nodded.

"You and the mother must be so proud." She smiled. It always pleased her to meet new parents.

"She doesn't know I know yet." Leon said.

"What?" her eyes widened behind her horn-rimmed glasses "You get out of here right now and let her know you know, and don't forget to bring her back to Esmeralda's for all your baby needs."

She promptly grabbed him by his jacket and in a blink he was outside. He shook his head chuckling a bit before fishing his phone from his pocket.

"Hello?"

"Y/N where are you I've been looking for you."

"I'm sorry I'm at the hospital, you know the phone rule."

"The hospital, Are you ok?" he asked his tone heavy with worry.

"Yeah I'm alright I just…needed to confirm something."

He sighed then his eyes widened in realization "So you are..pregnant than?"

"How did you know?"

He could practically see your face and he smirked before he replied "It's a long story." He looked up at the sign over the quaint baby shop.

"Can you meet me somewhere?"
