So this story is super short, and I'm not completely happy with how it turned out, but it's been floating around in my head for a few days and I needed to get it out. Any kind of feedback is appreciated.
Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach, though I certainly wish I did. This story involves two women in romantic situations with eachother, so if that kind of thing offends you then you probably shouldn't continue reading past this.
It had never needed an explanation. It was a logical continuation, a growth, really, or more an evolution. They knew eachother. They knew the good and they knew the bad. They accepted eachother. They accepted the quirks and they accepted the flaws. They loved eachother, they both knew without being told. That is why neither of them was surprised when they realized that they were slowly crossing the line between friends and lovers. Truth be told, they had been skirting it for a while.
Soifon knew Yoruichi. She knew that the other woman had the restlessness of a cat. She knew that she couldn't take being tied down. She knew that she needed freedom above anything else.
Because she knew, Soifon made allowances. She never tried to make Yoruichi stay. She never even asked her to. She never complained when they went to bed together only for her to wake alone. She didn't say anything when the other woman disappeared for weeks at a time. She never asked for an explanation. She never asked Yoruichi to be faithful. She always assumed that she wasn't, and she accepted that. It tore her up inside, but she knew Yoruichi, so she made allowances.
Yoruichi knew Soifon. She knew that the other woman felt that her identity was rooted in her work. She knew that she took great pride in belonging to something. She knew that she valued loyalty and structure above all else.
Because she knew, Yoruichi made allowances. She tried to stay when she could. She spent a good portion of her time at Soi's side. She stayed with her the nights she was in Seireitei. When she traveled to the world of the living she tried not to stay too long. She didn't sleep with anyone else. She never went beyond flirting and maybe a little flashing, but that was to be expected, really. It scared her sometimes, but she knew Soifon, so she made allowances.
Slowly, they grew even closer. As they grew closer, they began to notice things. They noticed eachother's allowances. Soifon realized Yoruichi was making efforts to be around her when she could. Yoruichi realized Soifon was making efforts to not tie her down.
They evolved more for the realizations. Soifon stopped worrying so much about Yoruichi leaving, just enjoying their time together to the fullest. Yoruichi stopped worrying so much about being tied down, just enjoying being around her little bee. Eventually, they were rarely separated, choosing instead to spend their time together. Soifon made trips to the world of the living with Yoruichi. Yoruichi spent time in Soifon's office while she completed her mountains of paperwork, which often led to the paperwork taking even longer than usual.
They continued to evolve. It was not something that they ever discussed. It wasn't something that needed to be discussed. It was a logical continuation. It wasn't something that was spoken of because words were inadequate. Saying that they loved eachother wouldn't have begun to cover how they felt, so they never said it. Instead, they spent every moment showing it.
