Chapter one.
Lucy sighed and sank onto her bed, with tears rolling down her face. She missed her mother, everyday but today especially. All she wanted for her eleventh birthday was to see her mothers twinkling eyes smiling down on her. When Lucy was a baby, her mother and father had been killed in a freak accident. The details were shady; her uncle would always reply when asked it was a terrible mistake and sigh. Lucy glanced at the photo of her beautiful red headed mother, standing next to her dark haired handsome father. She wondered what her life would have been like if her parents had not died. These fantasies although an escape, were of little consequence now. Lucy lived with her uncle, who although loved Lucy dearly, always seemed to distance himself from her. Lucy once asked him why he had not put her in an orphanage. Peter smiled sadly and replied ''you were all that was left of your parents, how could I leave you go?'' Lucy sat up suddenly when Peter called her to come downstairs. It was nearly 2.00am what could he possibly want?
The first thing Lucy noticed when she entered the room, was an impatient owl sitting on the armchair. Lucy gasped in surprise as the owl flew through the air and dropped a letter at her feet. Lucy curiously went to open it, but her uncle stopped her. '' Lucy you're going to have a lot of questions and I will try and answer them best I can''. Lucy's heart thumped heavily against her chest as her eyes fell on the curiously accurate address on the front of the letter. ''Lucy – Jean Potter. The Sitting Room, Primrose Cottage, London. '' Slowly she opened the letter, barely registering the old fashioned wax seal. She sank onto the couch as she read;
Dear Ms. Potter,

Deputy Headmistress.
Lucy looked up at her uncles pale face. ''I'm sorry'' he mumbled. ''I'm a witch?'' Lucy replied. Her uncle simply nodded. ''Are you…'' Peter interrupted her before she could finish her question. ''Yes I am''. He then explained that he was a fully trained wizard but after the death of his sister and brother in law, he renounced magic. He wanted to bring Lucy up in a magic free household because for him, it had done nothing but break his heart. Lucy was shocked to hear not only was she a witch but her uncle was a wizard who had turned his back on magic. When Peter explained for the first time how her parents had been killed she had to sit down. When Lucy was one, her parents were returning from a visit to her aunt and uncle's house, which were in hiding from a dark wizard named Voldermort. Her cousin Harry was being hunted by this man, but no one knew why. On the way home, Voldermort attacked her parents, mistaking them for Lilly and James; the two couples were so alike. By the time Voldermort had murdered Hayley and Rian , he had finally realised his mistake and left Lucy to die. Her uncle raised softly from the chair and reached over to stroke the cloud shaped scar on her forearm. '' You got this after your mother dropped you. You feel on a present she had received from Lily. The magic on the glass left a scar for life.'' Peter sighed and sat down beside her. Lucy looked at her gentle uncle for a moment, and then ran out of the house, leaving only the sound of her terriozed sobs behind.
