Mayu was in her bed, asleep. Night-time at the Kaede Inn was one of the most beautiful things one could imagine. Serenity filled the air, as cherry blossoms flowed through the skies, as if they had a life of their own. No sounds were to be heard throughout the whole place, the only thing that occasionaly filled the air was little Wanta's yips and barks. It was actually quite amusing to hear the small dog trying to bark like it was big and mighty. No more worries about anything since Nyuu came back, and she would stay as Nyuu until the day she dies. It was so peaceful, so quiet, and all that good stuff.
Then, Mayu heard someone whimpering at her door. She woke up and saw Nana, almost in tears, shaking.
She looked like a scared child. She reluctantly entered the room her best friend was sleeping in. She still stood there, nervous and shaking, and she was blushing for some reason.
"Nana-san, what's wrong?" she asked. Nana didn't respond, she just stood there, rubbing her prosthetic foot against the wooden floor, shaking and whimpering. Mayu wished Nana would just tell her. But she still seemed to be blushing.
Then she looked at Nana's crotch area and saw a wet spot. There were little droplets and a small stream dripping between her legs as well. The smell of urine filled the air around the two. Then Mayu finally realized why Nana was blushing. She had wet herself. It may have seemed childish, and Nana may be 13 years old, but Mayu knew that Nana was, in some ways, kind of a child. She knew that some people can't help themselves when scared, and she knew than Nana was one of those people.
"You wet the bed, didn't you?" Mayu asked, Nana nodded, tears in her pink eyes."Did you have another nightmare, Nana?" Mayu asked, and Nana nodded her head up & down. Nana had small tears coming down her red cheeks, but Mayu quickly wiped them off her face. She though her friend looked pitiful.
"Let's ask Yuka for a new nightgown, okay, Nana?" Nana could only nod. They went into the room where the two cousins were asleep. "Yuka-chan, Yuka-chan," Mayu whispered. "Huh, what is it, Mayu?" Yuka asked sleepily.
Then she saw Nana in the doorway, and saw the wet spot. "Oh, sweetie," she said, giving Nana a hug and rubbing her head. She gave the nightgown to Nana, and they took her sheets, along with the gown, to get washed. Mayu helped Nana with her new sheets, and Yuka cleaned the puddle Nana had left in Mayu's room.
After cleaning her up, Mayu put Nana to bed."Sorry to be a bother, Mayu," Nana said. "It's okay," Mayu replied, giving Nana a good-night hug.
Nana returned the hug, and with that, Mayu walked off to her room.
As Mayu was in her bed, she thought she felt someone getting in with her. She turned around, and saw Nana beside her. "Can Nana get in bed with you? I'm afraid," Nana asked. "Sure you can, Nana-san," Mayu said, allowing the horned girl to climb under the sheets with her. "You know something, Mayu-san?" Nana asked. "What," Mayu asked back. Nana clung to Mayu, wrapping her arms around her shoulders, and said, "You're Nana's best friend." It took all of Mayu's strength not to cry, but she said, "You're my best friend too," and they slept. Mayu was happy, and Nana had peaceful dreams as she was clutching Mayu close, as a child would to her mother. Everything was peaceful once more.
