Summary: Set in season five. Buffy used to want to graduate high school, go to Europe, marry Christian Slader, and die. Now all she wants is to survive tomorrow.
"You know, you've changed a lot since you left LA." Pike commented. He had come up for a visit, and they had fallen together just like old time.
"Yeah, well, everything's changed since then; the Slaying, me, everything. When you met me my life's goals were to graduate high school, go to Europe, marry Christian Slader, and die."
"Well you've checked two of those off the list."
She nodded solemly, all joking gone. "All I want now is to be alive tomorrow… God Pike, what'll happen to Dawn if I die?"
"Buffy," he said reassuringly and pulled her in to a hug. "You aren't going to die. Do you know how I know that?"
The Slayer shook her head, tears forming in her green eyes."
"Because you're the strongest person I know, and because you've survived so much. One little Hell Bitch won't take you down.
She chuckled softly through her tears and hugged him back. "Thanks Pike."
