His Tino

Berwald was grasping Tino's hand desperately as they fled from the alleyway. They turned the corner and were gasping for breath.

"Berwald, I-I'm scared…" Tino whispers, in between deep breaths.

"Don't w'rry. I'll prot'ct my w'fe" Berwald says reassuringly as he strokes Tino's shaky shoulders. Soon enough, Tino stopped shaking and gave Berwald a small smile. While they rested, Berwald stood protectively around his Tino, on guard for an attack.

And just as Berwald had expected, the three thugs came out from the alleyway and looked right at them. Berwald stood up and towered over them. Pulling out their guns, the thugs pointed right at the Swede. Right before Berwald thought would be his last few moments of life, Tino stepped in and took the bullets for him.

Berwald stared in absolute horror as his precious little Tino fell to the ground clutching the gaping bullet wounds where his innocent heart should be. Pulling out his own gun, Berwald quickly disposed of the three thugs and rushed to his Tino's side who currently was coughing up quite a bit of blood.

Sweden gently put his hand under Tino's head, angled it so that he could see Tino's violet eyes, still gleaming with braveness as he faced what he knew was his death.

"Why did ya do th't T'no?" Sweden asked pleadingly, still not believing that Tino would do such a thing. His eyes starting to tear up as he did his best to comfort the Finn as he suffered.

"I wanted to protect you for once, Berwald." Tino replied with a sad smile, wincing as he spat up more blood.

Berwald lifted Tino slightly so he could hug him, only slightly, being careful not to cause his Tino any more pain. Tino wanted to hug back, but to avoid further blood loss, just rubbed his chin on the Swedes shoulder in acknowledgement.

Even though the Swede was usually known for his stiffness, Tino could still see the tears barely keeping themselves from spilling down his cheeks.

"H..ei…don't c-cry Berwald…" Tino managed to say, still wearing his never fading smile but Berwald could see the light in his eyes beginning to fade.

Tino endured his pain and leaned up to give Berwald a kiss on the lips. Berwald was surprised that after so much suffering Tino still tried to comfort him. He kissed back and was also surprised to find that Tino's lips were still soft as ever, even as he tasted the blood on them. The kiss didn't last long as Tino's vision was starting to haze from the blood loss and they broke away and their foreheads touched, while Tino's cheeks were flushed a faint taint of red. Tino gave him one last smile as he said his final words:

"I'll always b-be with...you Berwald…I lov...e..y-you…" Tino stuttered as his eyes closed for a final time and Berwald knew he was gone. Still wearing his smile, Tino died peacefully in Berwald's arms.

Berwald looked at his Tino, and as sadistic as it sounded, he thought Tino looked heavenly, his lips still pulled into a small grin and his pale skin still blushed red.

Even though Sweden didn't want to, he couldn't hold back his tears any longer. He removed his glasses and sobbed quietly, and his tears fell on Tino's cheeks, making it seem as if Tino was crying with him. Berwald let a few more tears drop before picking up his Tino, knowing that Tino was watching him from heaven, serving as the most perfect angel anyone could ever hope to have.
