Crystal Teardrops

Little flecks of light
were weeping worries
in her soul,

Caught
in a nest of silver chains
hiding gold
beneath…

A hammer could smash away
at them
but never make them smaller,
hidden, sneaking
into wounds that bled
thin lines
a vibrant red.

When the glue came
they clung,
little dregs at the bottom
of a teacup
with the last drop
of sugarless tea

But the tears slowly fill up,
and when it's tears of joy –
stave loneliness and sorrow –
it'll be not a shattered crystal

But a pearl,
floating up and out
from her soul.
