"This time you've really outdone yourself!"
The mother of his child was outraged.
In capital letters. OUTRAGED.
"I don't even want to know how you pulled this off!"
"Somebody felt she owed me a favor", Guerrero stated, unfazed. "It's a safety measure."
"Safety measure! The house is invisible to apparently everyone except us! How is the postman supposed to deliver parcels? What if we need a plumber or an electrician?"
"I've already gotten you a P.O. Box. And I know a plumber who won't mind walking into the house blindfolded."
"What will the neighbors say?"
"That's what the high fence is for."
She hated it when he had an answer to everything.
"What if the pilot of an airplane is looking for a place to do an emergency landing and thinks our property is undeveloped? He'll crash right into the roof and kill us all!"
Guerrero looked at her over the rim of his glasses. "An airplane? On our roughly 2000 square feet?"
She sat at the table, buried her face in her hands and groaned. "You know, when I hooked up with you I knew there was the danger of getting kidnapped, tortured, shot at, blown up or plainly murdered. But an invisible house?"
The boy dashed in: "Can Tommy come over to play?" He was smiling, eyes brightly shining.
They looked at him and both thought the same thing.
Everything is about you.
She sighed. "We'll go to the park."
The edge was gone from her voice.
