Running.

She was running.

To where? She didn't know. All she knew was that she had to get away from the monster that was chasing her.

Her grandfather's dying words were still fresh in her mind. "Find the loop! September 3rd, 1940! Find the loop!" She didn't see the fallen branch on the forest floor and as a result, she tripped and fell. The thing was getting closer now, she could see it.

Its long, grey tongues peeking out from behind sharp, jagged teeth, it's mangled body lagging uselessly behind it. She tried to stand up and searing pain bloomed forth from her right ankle. 'Oh no,' she thought. She couldn't run like this.

The thing was closer now, she looked around in panic. She spotted a branch, it's tip cane to a point. It wasn't that sharp, but it would have to do. She reached for it and grabbed it.

A horrible stench filled her nostrils, she almost threw up. The thing looked down at her, it's mouth forming a scary smile full of teeth. A tongue shot out of its mouth and wrapped itself around her leg, pulling her towards it's mouth.

Gripping the branch tight, she raised it high in the air before bringing it down to impale the things left eye, or, what was supposed to be its left eye. Black liquid gushed out of the wound. Crying out, the thing reared back, using its useless hands to cover the eye, writhing and shaking on the ground.

The thing slowly dragged itself back into the shadows, leaving a trail of black liquid behind. She scooted away, still gripping the branch tight, until her back hit a hard surface.

"Anna! Anna! " That was Jacob! She replied with a shout of, "Here!" She saw moving lights, most likely from flashlights. Two silhouettes emerged from behind the bushes. That was all she saw before everything faded into darkness.
