"That blow should leave him unconscious for some time, now finish it."

The assassin studied her as the small green haired girl stepped forward just once but never drawing her blade. She stared down onto the boy lying in front of her, trying her best to will away the remorse and empathy she was feeling.

"Second thoughts," Jaffar said as cold and lifeless as all his words were. "Do it, you know the rules." Knowing in his mind that whether the girl chose to kill the boy or not, he would be the only one to leave the room alive.

"I…I can't." she replied fighting the tears that wanted to come, warriors don't cry, Black fang don't cry, but was she part of either?

"You would disobey the fang? I will not have you interfering, you will kill him now or I will end both your lives." He reached down towards his dagger, but hesitating to draw, why, why did this girl always seem to bring doubt and hesitation into his mind.

"I know that Jaffar, and I know you have to kill me, but please for god's sake please spare the prince. That's all I ask Jaffar, he's just like me, all he wants is for his father's love, to prove his worth! She fought the tears no longer as they flowed freely down her cheeks, but always looking the cold blooded assassin straight in the eyes, a task he was having difficulty in.

Smiling as she spoke once more, "Go ahead, Jaffar, Angel of Death, I am ready to die."

Jaffar drew his killing edge far earlier during the girl's tirade, but now stood frozen as he studied the girl before him. His mind was fighting; fighting the never ending voice that Nergal had put in his head. Did he want to kill Nino? All the life he had ended, never taking a chance to know who they were or why his master wanted them dead, but now it was different, he knew this girl she had showed him compassion, and perhaps even what he hoped to be friendship. One thing he was certain of, the friendship she offered was far better. 'A shame,' he thought 'it took so long to meet you.'

"Come." He said as he grabbed her small and thin wrist already leading her out searching for the next exit.

"Jaffar?" she said, looking at him as confused as she was frightened just a moment ago.

With that he stopped for a moment, turning to look at her, "You must live Nino. You deserve to live." And for the first time he said it with emotion, as Jaffar, no longer the famed Angel of Death.

'No, for her,' he thought, 'I will be an angel of life.'
