Being colour-blind did not register on the top of Steve's worries when he was younger. He had to worry about his health, his mom, standing up to bullies and most of all – surviving. He saw the world a certain way, granted that it was dull and muted in all the colours that it had to offer but it was alright. He was used to it. It was one of the reasons why he'd only sketch his art and never used colours to paint it. Colour was hard to come by anyway in the times of war and so was money. Food or paint – it wasn't a hard choice to make.
Then the serum happened. The colours around him became stronger and sharper just like the rest of him. The beautiful Peggy grew even lovelier with her pretty blush and her bright red lipstick. He finally understood what RED looked like. For the first time in his life he wished for some paint to capture the beauty around him but there were more important things to do that to sit around and paint. There were bad buys to defeat and a war to be won.
When this is all over he'd paint and give the colour red all the appreciation it deserves, he thought to himself admiring Peggy's red dress- matching her red lips and his new beautiful Shield.
He woke up in a new world. This world which was still bright and colourful but it lacked all the people that he cared about - A world without Bucky, Peggy or anyone else that he knew. He became an Avenger, fought alongside Howard's son who was technically older than him- and how strange is that? He still can't get over the fact that the world moved on without him. He stood still while time flew by.
He moved into the Tower along with the other Avengers. He created a new family for himself.
Now he's here – back at the tower along with his team after defeating the latest bad guy, his eyes fixed on Tony. The desire to paint once again intensified as Tony smiles looking at him, his face flushed red with post battle adrenaline, matching the red armour that he's still wearing. God! He loves red- especially on the man who's currently wearing it.
"Hey Jarvis?"
"Yes Captain Rogers?"
"Can you order me some art supplies with some extra red paint?"
"Of course Captain."
"Thanks Jarvis."
"Planning on painting the town red, Cap?" Tony asks mischievously.
"Something like that." Steve answers admiring the mischievous glint in Tony's eyes and promptly blushes. God he's in so much trouble.
THE END.
