For Jare, Merry Christmas! -Captain Swan Secret Santa 3
"Hook." She growled. She was going to kill him. They were supposed to fight the curse together, but the handsome idiot decided to sacrifice himself to the Wicked Witch of the West. If she didn't find him in time, she would be transported to who-knows-where with Henry and her parents. Without Hook. She took a deep breathe, telling herself to stay calm. She thought it was ridiculous that someone like her, after everything she'd been through, could possibly feel this way about someone. This isn't even the way she thought about Neal, Henry's father, who she would always love. No, this was different. They understood each other and respected their idiot decisions. After she had got her memories back, every second she spent with him became more and more intense. She always had to fight the urge to kiss him, pull him in like the first time. She shook the memory from her head, no time for reminiscing with the looming catastrophe ahead.
She told Henry to stay in the car while she ran through central park to a hidden tree, only people who were looking for it could see. Behind it was a stone arc. She rushed through to see Hook holding the purple potion to his lips. Once he drank it, the Witch would then be able to rip his heart out and become a slave to her for the rest of eternity. No. No.
"Hook!" She screamed. As if he knew she would be there, he just pressed his eyes shut, watching his adams apple as he swallowed. Why wouldn't he open his eyes and look at her? He needed to know... needed to know she couldn't live without him. Desperate, she pulled out her gun and aimed. The only way to stop him was to destroy the potion once and for all. Trusting her ability, she pulled the trigger and shot the glass vial. It splattered into a million pieces, one managed to scrape his face leaving a trail of blood. With no longer any power over any of them, the Witch disappeared in a cloud of green smoke cackling manically. Typical. She rushed over to Hook, her hand reaching out for his face the same time he turned to look at her. He wasn't smiling. Anger flashed in his eyes as his clenched his fists and took a step back away from her. She pushed back her hurt, opening her mouth to spurt out a halfhearted apology. After all, she had saved his life, he should at least be a little grateful.
"Emma." He spoke in a low voice. "Why did you do that? You could have gone home to your family. Isn't that what you wanted?" She sighed deeply, shaking her head slightly.
"My family wouldn't be complete without you in it." She stared at him, seeing all the emotions flash across his eyes, surprise, hope, acceptance and belonging.
"Emma." She smiled at him with tears in her eyes. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her cheek lightly.
"My Swan." He whispered into her ear before tightening his arms around her. She nuzzled her face into his neck in return. She wanted to stay like this forever but she knew they had to figure how to get back together. Yet, her previous panic was gone, and she knew it was because she finally realised that Hook was her home. Before she could reluctantly pull away, she felt his body tense.
"What?" She asked, looking up at him. Looking mildly shocked, he opened his mouth speechless for a few seconds.
"You could have killed me!" Realising what he meant, she let out a nervous giggle.
"Oh. Yeah. Well I didn't kill you."
"You fired merely an inch away from my face!"
"I know what I was doing okay? I've shot smaller targets from further away. Don't you trust me?" She knew he could see the teasing look in her eyes. He grumbled in response while taking her hand and leading them out of the clearing, past the stone arc.
"You still could have killed me." He muttered, looking down at their hands and gently tracing his thumb across her buttercup tattoo. She laughed and squeezed his hand in response.
