A Girl's Best Friend
I was running, as fast as possible, through one of the thickest forests I had ever been in, in my entire life. A whole squad of strangers was chasing after me, and I was growing more and more scared by the minute. At the time I wasn't a ninja, no, I was just Rika-baka, an over-her-head child of only ten years.
I had gotten the nickname "baka" from a friend of mine in the academy. His name was Aries, and he was made to attract the class girls. His hair is short, spiked, and a dusty-brown color. His eyes are golden-brown, and he can pull girls into them so easily. He's six feet tall and has toned muscles.
I guess that while I'm describing Aries, I should describe myself. I was short for my age, then, only 4'6". My hair went down to my mid-back, and it was jet-black. I kept my hair in a long ponytail. My eyes were jade-green, and they had dilated pupils most of the time, making me look cat-like. I had this insane ability to read the emotions of others through their aura. I also had no idea where I had been born or how I had gotten to the Leaf Village.
Anyways, back to the running. I was slowing down right as I got into the gate. Kiba, a boy with dog-like eyes and short, spiky, brown hair greeted me warmly. I smiled to him and hugged him. He was like a brother to me, of course. I pet his white dog, Akamaru, on the head. The strangers saw that I was with a friend, I guess, and left.
I saw a raven-headed boy passing us and quickly ran to him. "Sasuke-kun," I crooned like a fan-girl, "How are you today?"
He just gave me a little grunt and walked away. I was angry at that moment. Who would ever walk away from me just like that? Only a crazy person, that was who. Kiba came up behind me and told me that I would get Sasuke someday, but I knew all of my fantasies were only in my head. Sasuke didn't want anybody, I was sure.
Kiba and I, holding hands, walked to Ichiraku Ramen. I ordered the least spicy ramen that I could get, and Kiba got just the opposite of what I had. I could tell that he was extremely happy because of the food and my safety. He also had the aura of embarrassment around him, because I was still gripping onto his hand. I had the strange feeling that Kiba Inuzuka liked me just then. Besides, he did seem jealous as I had walked over to Sasuke earlier that day.
I laid my head on his shoulder, and that embarrassed aura grew thousands of times stronger. Kiba did like me, and he knew then that I knew the secret. He was, in fact, the only one besides me who knew that I could read the emotional aura of a person. I trusted him with my life. He even knew that my eyes changed to crimson every time I was extremely thirsty for... Blood.
Kiba put his arm around my shoulders and smiled. He was satisfied that I liked him back. I was happy too, because I realized that Kiba was so much closer to me and that he was nicer. The spiky headed boy next to me was mine, from that day forward.
