What if Professor Trelawney had never made the prophecy about Harry, Neville, and Voldemort?

Lily POV:

"Will you marry me?"

I was stunned. When James told me he had something important to talk to me about, I'd never expected this.

"Lily?" James looked at me, a worried expression on his face.

"I- uhh. What?"

"Lily, I just asked you to marry me. I know it's quick, but I love you and there's a chance we might not make it through this war. I want to be with you while I can. Please, flower, don't leave me hanging here."

James' words finally sunk in. "Yes! Yes! Of course, yes!" I cried with a huge smile.

"Yes?"

"Yes, James, I will marry you," I responded, a silly grin on my face.

James' face split into a grin that rivaled my own and slid the delicate gold ring onto my finger. "Oh, thank goodness. I thought you were going to say no for a moment there."

"Sorry, I was just in shock. But why would I say no? I love you," I replied. "Now, come here, you." I pulled him closer to me and kissed him softly. Our kisses grew more urgent and passionate as we lost ourselves in the bliss of the moment. "Oh, James," I moaned as he started to kiss the sensitive spot on my neck. I plastered my body even closer to his as I slid my hand under his shirt to feel his Quidditch-hardened body.

Suddenly, the classroom door opened. "Hey, guys- woah." Remus stood in the doorway, embarrassed at the predicament he had found us in. "Umm, James, Lily, McGonagall is looking for you. Apparently, she isn't too happy about her head boy and girl skipping out on their graduation party. You better head downstairs." He turned to leave, but stopped and looked back at us with a slight smile on his face. "I take it she said yes, Prongs?"

"She sure did," he answered. "Now get out of here before I hex you for interrupting us." Remus just shook his head good-naturedly before exiting the room.

"Come on, James. We better get down there. I wouldn't want to tarnish my perfect record on our last night at Hogwarts by getting a detention for making out in a classroom." I began to extricate myself from the tangle of limbs that was me and James, but he grabbed me and brought me back towards him.

"Can't we skip the party and just stay here?" he pleaded. "We did just get engaged."

I smiled and leaned forward to brush a kiss across his delicious lips. "Nope. C'mon, fiance. We have a party to attend." I stood up and smoothed down my dress.

"Please, flower?" James asked from his place on the floor.

"No." I pulled him up. "Let's go. We can have some more snogging time tonight, after the party."

"Bollocks." He stood up sulkily and strolled toward the door.

"Oh, James, one more thing before we go." He turned and looked at me expectantly. "Don't call me flower." I snickered, dashed past him, and sprinted down the stairs.

"Come back here, flower! I want some more kissy time!" James sighed and began to trudge down the stairs after me.

Let me know what you think. Should I continue and make this a full story about how life would've been different? This is just a drabble for now, I hopefully should be able to get more up soon, once I'm done with finals and I have time to write. If I write more, I'll take this down and replace it with a full-length chapter. Please review and enjoy!
