Sweet Dreams
I whimpered softly when I finally woke up. All the nightmares had told me the same thing- Kid didn't really want me around, he didn't like me at all, I was just his little pet project, he was better off without me... All the things I already secretly thought.
I flipped onto my belly, wary of Kid's arms wrapped around me, and started to inch over to the side of the bed. Something heavy was suddenly draped over my back and Kid's crooked face appeared in front of mine.
Kid was laying on top of me.
...
Nope, not even a tiny spark of surprise.
"You wanna talk about it?" He whispered softly. I blinked in confusion. How'd he know I'd been having nightmares?
"You were muttering in your sleep. It sounded like you were talking to someone." He paused, "It sounded like you were... Arguing with me." My eyes welled with tears and my gaze was weighed downwards as the still stinging words from the dream rang in my ears. Kid Flash's weight rolled off me until he was lying in front of me. His fingers gently took hold and my chin and lifted my blurry gaze to meet his.
I was surprised, to say the least, when I say the small smile and the love waiting for me, "I love having you around, Jinxie, I love YOU, you were never my 'project' and never will be, and I be much, much better off if you'd been here my whole life. Guess we'll just have to make up for lost time, huh?"
I smiled through my tears as Kid brushed a soft kiss onto my lips and curled up, once again with his arms around me. Only this time, I was certain that I wouldn't be having nightmares.
"Sweet dreams, Jinxie."
