This is probably the shortest thing in fanfiction history, and honestly I think it sucks, but I seriously needed to get it out of my system after iLove You. It broke my heart and made me happy all at the same time. Hopefully you like anyway.
Disclaimer: I do not own iCarly.
The clock read midnight. Yet both Sam and Freddie still weren't willing to leave the iCarly studio.
"Freddie?" Sam questions in a whisper.
"Yeah?" he replies, turning his gaze to her.
"Did... did you mean it?" she begins carefully, closing her eyes nervously before continuing, "You know, when you said you loved me?"
Upon opening them again, she realizes his deep brown eyes are still locked on hers.
"Yes." he answers with a nod. "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't."
Sam smiles in relief, but suddenly it's Freddie's turn to be nervous.
"Why?" he asks apprehensively. "Are you... maybe... kind of hoping you hadn't said it back?"
"No!" she shouts, shaking her head furiously. "It's just..."
She bites her lip and lets out a frustrated sigh.
"I feel like this whole thing is stupid." she states bluntly, looking at him once more. Her voice cracks and a single tear falls as she blurts out the next question. "If we love each other, then why did we break up?"
"Aw, Sam. Don't cry." he states in a pleading tone, wiping the tear away. "I mean... it's what we both wanted. Right?"
She shrugs. "I thought I did. But I don't. Or maybe I do. I don't know! Do you?"
Freddie lets out a soft laugh, followed by a sigh of his own. "I know I care about you and that I don't see that changing anytime soon. I also know that I now have a love-hate relationship with elevators."
"You are such a dork," she tells him with a laugh, slapping him on the arm. Then her expression softens. "But you're my dork... and I'm crazy about you."
Freddie grins, leaning down to place his lips gently over hers.
There's only silence when they pull apart.
"So..." she finally states after a moment. "Did we just get back together?"
His reply is short and simple. Yet it means everything.
"Feels like it."
