Chapter One

"Lilliana." I woke with a start and quickly lifted my head from my desk. I must have dozed off when I was doing my homework. I looked around my room until my eyes landed on a small woman with a pixie face, long dark purple hair and bright blue eyes that seemed to glow in the fading light of the day coming from my window. I smiled at one of my best friends.

"Hello Kaede," I said. Kaede's eyes glittered with amusement as she looked at my face. I self-consciously touched my skin but instead of feeling skin I felt paper. I peeled the paper off my face and look to see that my homework had been plastered to my face. I looked back at Kaede and sheepishly smiled.

"Is that some way you study on this world?" She asked laughing as tucked her long hair behind her ears revealing her pointed ears.

"Not really and I thought I told you to call me Lily," I said placing my homework back on my deck.

"Well, I did call you Lily at first but you weren't waking up so I had to call you Lilliana and if that wouldn't have woken you up, I was going to call you Queen Lilliana," said Kaede searching my room until she my closet, "Do you really wear something like this?" she asked pulling out a tee shirt and wrinkling her nose is disgust.

"All the time," I said and watched as she threw the tee shirt back in the closet as if it burned her skin.

"Well you must be glad you only have a year left," She said pulling her eyes away from the closet and smiled at me. Yes, one more year, one more year until I turn eighteen.

"I'll be glad when I stop pulling these late nighters and stop living two lives," I said honestly.

She frowned a little, "You didn't have to; you can just stay."

I sighed, "I know. But I want to finish high school."

"Why? Marc can teach you more than any high school can," she said.

"I know, it's just…it's just," I said searching for words. How can I help her understand? How can I help her understand if I don't understand myself? I sighed giving up, "Are you ready to go?"

"Of course!" She chirruped. I got up from my seat and walked over to the mirror with Kaede beside me. I mumbled the words and the mirror began to glow. I closed my eyes and stepped through the mirror. I felt the familiar tingling sensation that I feel the countless that I have stepped through the mirror. When the sensation I stopped I opened my eyes to see the throne room. I feel myself grin as Marc walks toward me.

"Welcome back Queen Lilliana."
