This is absolutely randomly compulsive and I have absolutely no doubt that no one will ever read it. However, I felt the need to write this, based on something Shindara said to Basara in Aokigahara.

Summary: The rest had forgotten so quickly that a comrade had fallen. Well, Maro wouldn't be so disrespectful of the dead. BasaraxAjira

Warning: Probably a pairing that no one has ever written for, as Basara is dead and not very popular, and the original Ajira never shows up in the manga. Other than that…well, Basara might be a little OOC; I've never written him before. I don't think anyone has ever written him before. And who knows what Ajira was like…

Disclaimer: AlukaKaiserin does not own Samurai Deeper Kyo or any characters therein.

Gone

Maro misses him. Maro sees the usurper Akira take his place, and he hates him for what he did. Maro knows that Akira will betray the Twelve. Akira was one of the Shiseiten. There is no way he will kill Kyo.

Maro will never see Ajira again, but he can remember. Aside from remarkable ears, and brilliant strategy, Maro has a remarkable memory.

Ajira was not the strongest of the twelve, but he was Maro's friend. Maro loved him. He was far from kind, but he was not vicious as are many of the remaining Jyunishinshou. As is Akira.

Akira-dono (Maro amuses himself with the overly-respectful suffix) is unnervingly both kind and cruel, and Maro knows that he will never truly be one of them. Shindara, Antera and Bikara appear to have accepted him, but Maro never will, and if Maro does not accept him, he is not truly one of the Twelve—in the eyes of the archer, anyway.

Maro knows who really killed Kubira, but he won't tell Nobunaga-sama yet—not until he has real proof. Akira is a silver-tongued master of deceit; intelligent, ruthless, and able to fool even Nobunaga-sama with his lies.

But Maro knows better.

He knows why Ajira died.

End

That was way short and way weird…I still don't quite know why I wrote that. Hmm…
