Quick drabble that came to me after finishing Blackveil by Kristen Britain. Unbeta'd, so any mistakes are mine. I don't own Supernatural, or any of the characters, yada yada...
Hope you like it and, as always, reviews are love!
Unto Me | G | 308 words
When the souls first flood into Castiel, making the Angel of the Lord into something else, something other, something that the universe had never seen before, all he feels is a surge of power unlike any other. Once he silences the millions of souls held within him, he returns to the warehouse. Castiel believes that with this power, he can set everything right. His human family will be safe, Raphael and Crowley will no longer present a problem, and Dean will finally see what Castiel is truly capable of.
But when his plan crumbles beneath him and he is rejected by his family, Castiel cloaks himself in his power. The influx of power helps him turn his mind away from the sting of the betrayal that echoes the physical pain he felt when Samuel ran him through with the angel blade. Open to the power, he starts to see the universe as it truly is, the little threads that represent a life force, a soul, a grace of an angel, a twisted soul of a demon. He sees the paths that they have taken, that they are taking, that they will take. He sees the ways each thread can diverge and create whole new universes. He sees how some are meant for others, how others come very close, but twist away at the last possible moment, missed chances, serendipity, fate. The entire world, laid out for his command, the threads his to weave and contort, the eternity of time displayed at his fingertips. As an angel, Castiel has always understood that the human conception of time was a fallacy. Time is not linear. It is more fluid, a big ball of timey-wimey… stuff.
He spares a moment of regret that Dean has turned away from him, because for one last time, Castiel wishes to share this with Dean.
