Dear Melody,

You may not know me, but I know you. Now, don't get intimidated, umm... which simply means 'scared' I suppose... Because I'm not one of those bad people who write letters to children as to kidnap them...Wait. No.. No, No. NO. It's just- how- I... In fact, I'm writing this because I am scared for you. I am scared I will not find-... Never mind.

I'm just here to tell you a story. The funny thing is, everyone knows it, except for you. I'm just here to tell you that it is going to be a happy story, Melody, that it's going to be filled with love, guns, handcuffs and family. I know it may sound odd and foolish and childish even for a child. And I know it may not seem very happy right now but it will be amazing. Just you wait and see. All you have to do now is believe in yourself and what you think is right because nobody can ever make you into something you don't want to be. Be patient. Be strong. Think of new words and sentences, write them down. Remember them. Just live, Melody and you will be fine. You will be beautiful. And you will be loved. Always.

Sweetie

River licked the tears that touched the corners of her lips. I'm sorry, were his unspoken words. He was always apologizing, she realized, even before she was born. Even before she was introduced to his world of telephone boxes and stars. Except for that one time, that single time at the lake when time had not been rewritten and she shot the life out of him.

She sniffed, feeling the imprint of his stationary on the old (now tearstained) letter that was never sent. A small smile appeared on her lips as she traced the frustrated slash marks that crossed out the sentences on the first half of the note. The words that followed in the second half were wobbled, written by shaky and unsure hands. Hands that were conflicted and that sought out comfort. Oh, her sweet Doctor and this letter that was never meant to be sent.

For what it was worth, she could only respond in the words he had said so long ago,

"You're forgiven. Always and completely forgiven."
