Disclaimer: I do not own Soul Eater. *ouch*

Oh this was a very bad idea. A very, very bad idea. She knew, it. Oh, she knew it. However, it still managed to wriggle out of the pits of fantasy hell and into reality.

"Why are we doing this?" Maka asked.

"Because it's a surprise for Soul to celebrate your one year anniversary!" Patty chirruped.

"Besides, it's fun," Liz added.

For you! Maka thought angrily. If Soul did see her in this, there would be no end to it. Her future suddenly looked very grim. The door opened and Soul entered before she could duck out of sight.

"Maka, I'm ho- Wow."

She sighed, exasperated. Oh, she knew this would happen.

"Umm… Er… i-it's… it's…" she wildly looked around at her partners-in-crime desperately, who grinned widely enough to rival the Grinch. In Maka's mind, they looked incredibly devious and evil. Scary... she thought.

"Wow," he repeated, dumbstruck in awe.

"Well… We – Liz, Patty, and Tsubaki – thought that it would be a nice surprise… Eheh…" she said nervously as she picked at the hem of the short, tight fitting culprit.

She was wearing a dress. It was a red, tight fitting spaghetti strapped dress that hugged her figure but became loose at the bottom and hung loosely, so when she turned, it twirled. It was very short and barely covered half her thighs. It was corset styled, so there was a long gap in the back, her bare skin hardly covered by the crisscrossing stings of lace.

Soul looked at her up and down appreciatively. Liz, Patty and Tsubaki may be guilty of the crime, but oh how he loved them right now.

"Why are you so embarrassed about it, Maka?" asked Patty.

"Yeah! You wear a mini-skirt everyday, anyways." Liz chipped in.

"This is different from a mini-skirt!" Maka hissed back, blushing furiously.

"Soul, what do you think?" asked Tsubaki, acknowledging his gaping presence.

"Wow. I love it." Soul smirked, causing her to blush even more. Liz and Patty high-fived.

"See? He loves it!" Liz told Maka.

"Alright, alright! Let's go now, Liz, Patty." Tsubaki started ushering them out the door. Before leaving, she smiled at Maka and Soul gracefully, nodding at Maka's silent "thank you".

Maka looked back at Soul – his eyes had never left her.

"So… what do you really think of it?" she asked fiddling with the hem again.

"Maka, you look beautiful." He smiled at her.

"You don't think it looked stupid?" she asked.

"Of course not!" he chuckled.

Maka was relieved. He didn't think she looked stupid. He liked the dress. Phew.

"However…" He slinked closer to her until he was so close that their faces were inches apart. Maka thought he was going to kiss her, but instead, he whispered in her ear.

"As much as I love you in that dress…"

Maka found that she had been holding in her breath.

"I think you'll look even better without it." He smirked. Maka's mouth fell open, and Soul used this as an opportunity to kiss her.

Oh how Maka loved that dress.
