Hermione and Minerva met for their weekly tea in Minerva's chambers. They were both sat on the sofa that was in the centre of the living room. Hermione had her legs up in front of her on the sofa as she lent on the arm closest to the blazing fire. Minerva was sat on the opposite end of the sofa in the same position. Talk flowed easily between the pair, just as it had for the past nine years.

Hermione was now 19 and lately she had been distracted. She spent most of her research time in her own world, not taking in anything she was reading, the time she spent on her own when she used to do extra work, was now spent doing sketches. Her mind was on only one person and every time she passed her in the halls or helped her out in her lessons, day in, day out, she was finding it hard to control herself. That person, was Minerva McGonagall. Hermione didn't know what her feelings towards her Professor were, but she thought that, maybe, just maybe, it was ... love.

Minerva sat across from Hermione sipping her tea, wondering just what was going through her head. She seemed to be in her own world again. Minerva had noticed that it had been happening a lot lately.

"Hermione?"

"Mm?" Hermione shook her head, mentally kicking herself for spacing out.

"Are you, alright?" Minerva looked so worried. Merlin, she was so concerned for the girl, no, young woman, in front of her.

"I'm fine, Professor."

Minerva saw right through Hermione and fixed her sternest glare at Hermione, whom moved her gaze to the mug in her hands. "Miss Granger, please. You know you can come to me for anything."

"Anything?" It was barely a whisper.

"Anything, Hermione." Minerva placed a hand on the girls' knee making her look up. "I'm worried about you, Hermione."

"There's no need to be." Standing, Hermione placed her still full mug on the coffee table and went to the large window, starring out across the school grounds, collecting her thoughts.

"Hermione?" Minerva got even more worried when she saw Hermione's shoulders start to visibly shake. Cautiously, Minerva stood behind Hermione and snaked her arms around her waist, pulling her into an embrace.

"Minerva I –" Hermione sniffed through her tears.

"Sorry, dear, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." Minerva stepped back, but Hermione held onto her hands.

"You didn't. Really. I'm just battling with my feelings." Hermione took a deep breath before carrying on. "My feelings for you."

"We're not professor and student any more Hermione." Minerva pulled Hermione closer once more and held her tight.

"I know. But what would Dumbledore say?"

"As long as we don't show it in-front of the students, and that we're both happy, he's not going to have any issues about us." Minerva placed a soft kiss behind Hermione's ear. "What would you say if I asked if I could court you, dear?"

"Yes." Hermione turned to face Minerva and snaked her arms around her lover's neck. Smiling Minerva pulled Hermione into a passionate kiss that held all the love that the pair had been keeping inside for so long.

"I love you Minerva McGonagall."

"And I love you, Hermione Granger."

Another passionate, more heated kiss followed as the new couple headed off to Minerva's bedroom.

THE END.
