"Arizona?"
Amelia entered the home she shared with her girlfriend and made her way down the hall, calling the blonde's name. Arizona had just gotten out of a long, risky surgery, and when Amelia had searched the hospital for her to congratulate her, she was nowhere to be found. She figured Arizona had decided to come home to rest.
"Honey are you home?"
She peered into the kitchen, then the living room, finding no trace of the blonde.
"In here."
The words were quiet and muffled, coming from behind their bedroom door. She followed the voice farther down the hall and entered the room, her heart melting in her chest at the sight that greeted her.
Arizona lay sprawled across the mattress, wearing only a pair of underwear and one of Amelia's T-shirts. Her eyes were half-closed, her prosthetic thrown haphazardly onto the floor. She looked exhausted, yet Amelia still found her absolutely breathtaking.
She quietly made her way to the bed and sat down on the edge of the mattress, gently placing her hand on her girlfriend's leg and rubbing it up and down, soothingly.
"Hey, you," she whispered softly. "How did the surgery go?"
"It was perfect." Arizona's sleepy smile made Amelia's heart leap.
The brunette grinned and leaned down to plant a sweet kiss on her forehead. She tucked a loose strand of golden hair behind Arizona's ear.
Good. I'm glad," she said. "Congratulations. I'm so proud of you."
Arizona smiled and tugged gently on Amelia's arm in response, pulling her down towards her. It made the brunette giggle.
"Hold on, baby," she chuckled. "Let me change first."
She stood up to kick off her shoes and shrug off her jacket. She peeled off her jeans and pulled her shirt over her head, before reaching behind her back to unhook her bra. She started to walk over to the dresser to pull out a pair of pajamas, but Arizona stopped her.
"Hey," she called.
The brunette turned around, her expression a combination of confusion and amusement.
"Can I help you?" she asked teasingly.
Arizona bit her lip. "Just come here," she whispered.
Amelia suppressed a sly grin, rolling her eyes. She sauntered over to the bed and slipped under the sheets, tucking Arizona under them with her. The blonde instantly enveloped her in her arms, laying her head on her chest and lazily stroking her fingers over the bare skin of her back.
Amelia held her close and let their legs tangle together. She sighed contently.
"You're brilliant, Arizona," she said, her voice serious. "I mean that. And I really am proud of you."
The blonde lifted her head from her chest and looked into her eyes. She leaned up to press a kiss to her lips.
"Thank you," she whispered, sincerely. "I'm proud of you, too."
"Yeah?"
Arizona nodded, a grin spreading across her lips.
"You're the cutest world-class neurosurgeon I've ever met," she teased.
Amelia giggled again. She kissed her forehead.
"I hope you know how much I love you," she sighed.
Arizona swore she could crumble into a million pieces. Her girlfriend was adorable.
She surged forward and captured the brunette's lips in a passionate kiss, pouring all that she felt into it. She tightened her arms around her and pulled her even closer. Amelia's hands reached up to cup her face.
"I love you, too," she whispered against her lips. "So much."
She kissed her again, this time her tongue slipping into her mouth. She smiled when Amelia released a moan, and suddenly she didn't feel so tired.
Arizona lifted her head to whisper huskily into her ear.
"Let me show you."
