Remus whimpered in his sleep as the half-moon's light shone onto the bed. He kicked out and tossed his sheets as the powerful spell the moon held over him turned his dreams to fearsome nightmares.
Sirius watched him until he could stand it no longer. Kicking off his sheets, he jumped out of his bed and into Remus's. Putting his arm around his boyfriend, he whisper-sung half-remembered nursery rhymes and, in desperation, even some old rock songs into his ear. When this failed to wake or calm Remus he simply prodded him (as kindly as possible of course) until Remus' eyes stuttered open. He looked terrified still until he saw Sirius lying next to him and he settled into his boyfriend's embrace although his body was still taut in the moons pull.
"Thank you. I love you you know."
"I know. I love you too." Sirius whispered back. He glanced over to the window and saw the moon disappear into the clouds for just a few moments. He looked back down at the boy in his arms and saw that Remus had visibly relaxed, his face losing some of the early stress lines. 'If only it could really disappear...' thought Sirius.
It was in that moonless moment that Sirius vowed to do all he could to really make the moon disappear, if only for a few shining moments in which Remus could be happy.
