Title: The promise

Summary: Same characters as ADR, but different story line. This time it's Angst. Both Kaito and Shinichi know that they are brothers, but because of the fact that they uses different disguise family name they can't live together anymore as brothers. The Dark Ravens (A/N: Black Organization in this fic) are still striking. Shinichi knows about Kaito as Kaitou KID.

Oneshot

The night was silent. A white familiar figure flew on his hang glider under the beautiful red moon. Myth said that Red Moon brings bad lucks. But the white figure doesn't seem to care too much. The sky is his playground, his territory. No one-I really mean no one- nor anything could stop him. He landed on the museum top with a grace even the queen would be jealous of. There he is, standing at the roof of the historical building waiting for the right time to attack without anyone noticing his existence –well, his brother doesn't count; they could always fells the other existence-. There is always a reason why he is called the phantom thief. Tonight target is special. It's the largest ruby in the world. It's called the 'Red Tear of Immortality'. There is a greater chance that this time it's Pandora.

3…2….1…It's show time.

The oh-so-familiar pink smoke filled the room after a poof from the center of the room. Then the light was off and a white sneaky figure opened the window and sneak in. After the light was on, the case was empty and Kaitou Kid at the door. "Kid!catch!" the inspector shouted. The officers run after the thief as what they are ordered to. "My..my Nakamori-keibu, not even a hi for me?" Kaitou Kid said before running away with a wide grin on his face. The Keibu cursed as he chase the thief to the 20th floor. Kudo Shinichi following him at the back.

"Kaito, beware of the snipers…I hope everything will be alright." He thought before concentrating back at the heist.

"This is it! It's the Pandora!" Kaitou said as the red liquid pouring out of the gem. "Kid! Give the gem back!" Nakamori shouted. "Sorry Nakamori-keibu, look like I'm not gonna return this one, I found the one I try to find all this years." He replied with a happy tone. "I think thi-" he was cut by the shout "Head Down Kid!" of the one and only Kudo Shinichi. Before he could react at his brother's word, he was pushed to the other way. His white suit was stained with blood, but he didn't get shot? Right? He look around him only finding his brother covered in blood. "Ta-tantei-kun? You alright?" he asked. What a silly question! Of course he is not! He was shot! "I-i…don't thi-think so…" he replied. "Nii-chan… I-I'm sorry… You know you don't have to take bullet for me right.." Kaitou cried. "Ke-yah..ple-please run…Don't le-et them got you…" Shinichi replied.

The task Force was shocked. They never thought something like this would happen! Kudo Shinichi was shot and now bleeding to death in front of their eyes to save the life of a thief! And Kaitou Kid crying? And did he just call Kudo-kun Nii-chan? Kudo Shinichi's brother is Kaitou Kid? Their thought was cut by Kaitou Kid shout "Nii-chan! I can't just run like that before you-you're safe?" "I'm sorry Keyah… I don't want you to die… please..go..I-I pro-mise you I'll he-heal al-right…Ju-just go.." the detective replied. "Demo…nii-chan…alright, but promise me you will be alright okay? He replied. "I promise Keyah…" and with that Kaitou Kid jump from the building and flew with his WINGS?

"I'm sorry Keyah.. I have to broke my promise this time, I don't think I can hold on anymore…" Kudo Shinichi thought before breathing his last breath at the cold roof.
