"Lily please come to my birthday party. Please" James begged his now almost friend Lily Evans. It was March and exams were coming up. Today was James birthday and his friends were throwing him a huge party in the common room.
"James no. I will not. As head boy and girl we should not spend our time partying but studying" she said looking down at the guy she had a crush on. You heard right. Lily Evans had a crush on James Potter for as long as she could remember but he was too cocky and arrogant. He always wanted something.
"Please Lily" he begged.
"NO I WILL NOT JUST LEAVE ME ALONE JAMES" she shouted at him. James was crushed.
"Okay sorry I bothered you" he mumbled and left. Lily was still annoyed but yet as she watched James walk away head down she felt a little bit guilty. Then Remus came up to her.
"Lily just some please. Okay James he really loves you and I know you too aren't exactly friends but it would mean the world to him" he pleaded. She sighs.
"I guess I could make a quick appearance" she said. He smiled at her.
"Thanks Lily I'll see you tonight" he said before turning after his heartbroken friend. Lily sighed. She decided to consult with Marlene to find James a present.
"Mar what should I get him" she asked her.
"Well get him something he would hate" she said.
"Why would I do that" Lily asked.
"Well I know that you're wondering if he truly loved you and that that's why you won't go to his party am I right" Marlene asked her.
"I guess" Lily confessed.
"Then if you give him something he hates and he said he loves it even though he doesn't then he really does" Marlene said.
"That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard… but it just might work" Lily said. She thanked her friend and went to her room. In their she found a romance novel and she packed it up. It was better than nothing.
AT THE PARTY.
James was looking to see if Lily had come. Then he spotted her fiery red hair in the crowd. He ran to her and stopped before her.
"You came" he breathed.
"I thought it wouldn't hurt" she said. She handed him the gift. "Happy birthday" she added. He smiled at her and opened the gift. He saw a book and smiled. Typical Lily. He looked up at her.
"I love it" he said and hugged her.
"You do" she asked him.
"Ya but you didn't have to get me a gift. All I wanted was for you to come and you did and now I am happy" he said to her. She smiled at him. Then a slow song came on.
"May I have this dance" he asked her. She nodded and they went to the dance floor. They swayed to the music.
"I know you don't like the gift" she said.
"What no I love it" he said truthfully.
"Why do you I mean you hate books" she said. He looked at her as though she was stupid.
"Because it came from you. I mean Lily to be completely honest with you I wouldn't care if you got me an ugly sweatshirt with red heart and purple stars. I would care if you got me rotten fish. As long as it came from you I would love it" he said.
"James" she said. That was the sweetest thing she had ever heard.
"I have a back-up gift" she said.
"What is it" he asked her.
"This" she said and she kissed him. James kissed back immediately. This was all he could ever want and right now he was the happiest man alive.
