Dave sighed, looking over at John. He observed the derpy teen carefully. John's glasses were tilting off his nose slightly, and his teeth were sticking out of his mouth, showing his bucked teeth. His bright blue eyes were shining, as he laughed along with their friends. John's wavy, black hair was slightly wet from a recent thunderstorm, so it was shining a bit. All in all, Dave could say that John actually looked… beautiful.
Dave shook those thoughts out of his mind. No. No way in hell does he like John in a more than bros way. I mean, he's too cool to like people like that. Especially derpy people like Egbert. But something about John just attracts Dave to him. But Dave just doesn't know what.
The cool teen sighed and put his chin on his knees. John looked over at Dave, and smiled. "Hey, you okay, Dave?"
Dave got lost in John's blue orbs. He snapped out of his trance, and smiled shakily. "Y-Yeah," he muttered, looking down.
"Are you sure? You seem kinda down," John asked worriedly.
Dave bit his lip. His heart rate increased when he thought about John caring about his feelings and such. It really made him… kinda happy.
"Um… well… I guess a lot is just on my mind," Dave muttered, looking at his shoes.
"Like what?" John asked curiously.
Dave looked over at where Rose and Jade were. Both girls were laughing and talking amongst each other. He sighed. "Um… I'd rather talk about it… somewhere in private," he mumbled.
John looked over at their female friends and nodded. "Come on, we can talk in my room."
The boys stood up, and headed for the nerdy boy's room.
When they got in there, John closed the door, and sat on his bed, motioning for Dave to do so also.
Dave reluctantly sat down next to the boy.
"So, what's on your mind, Dave?" John asked.
The taller—and cooler—boy bit his lip and looked out the window, looking outside.
He sighed and looked at John, who was looking at him curiously.
He looked back down and said, "Well… there's this person… who I like a lot."
John smirked. "Oh really now? Well, who is this lucky person?" he asked, completely oblivious to the fact that it was him.
Dave blinked and looked out the window again. "Well… this person is… completely amazing. Um… we've known each other for a while. This person has been there for me, through everything, which has made me feel these feelings for them. I guess, I love them… but I don't know how to tell this person, really…"
John smiled sadly. "Well, I have something that might work." He still didn't realize that it was him. Clueless boy.
Dave slightly smiled. "Oh yeah? Well what do you have in mind for me?"
John cleared his throat and sat up straighter. "Well, you should just tell this person. I mean, if they like you back, then they'll obviously say so. I mean, really. But if they don't feel the same way, then don't get discouraged. I'm sure the right person will come along some day, right?"
Dave bit his lip. "So you think it will work?" he asked.
John smiled. "I hope."
Dave nodded. "Well, I'm going to tell that person right now."
The other boy smiled. "Great!"
Dave sat up straighter and cleared his throat. "John, I… I think I may love you."
All was quiet after those simple words. Time seemed to have frozen.
Slowly, but surely, a small smile crept on John's derpy face. A small, derpy smile. Then he leaned over, and kissed the other boy lightly on the lips.
"Good to know," he murmured.
Then he stood up, and held out his hand for Dave to take. "Now, come on. We can't keep the girls all alone by themselves, right?"
Dave smiled, and grabbed John's hand, and they walked out.
Hey, Dave may seem too cool to fall in love, but he has John.
And that's all he needs.
