Characters; Zoey Redbird is a young vampire fledgling, she has a Cherokee heritage and is very close to her Grandmother, Sylvia Redbird. Stevie Rae Johnston is Zoeys' best friend in 'the house of night'. Eric Night, Damien Maslin, Erin Bates and Shaunee Cole(the twins), Silver Green, Aphrodite LaFont and James Stark.

I leaned over the cream bathtub, watching the red water spiral down the drain. I chewed my lip nervously, 'god I hope this suits me' was all I could think. My best friend Zoey tapped my shoulder lightly and giggled "that's you finished". I stood up slowly not daring to look in the mirror and sat down infront of her.

..Before long I was standing beside my Kenny Chesney poster gazing into my mirror. A girl stared back at me but it didn't seem to be the Stevie Rae I remembered. This was a mature, young woman. All my blonde, bouncy ringlets were gone and where they had once been now was long red locks that reached just below my collar bones and framed my round chubby face perfectly. My grey eyes seemed to sparkle more than usual and small flakes of blue shown through, I turned too see my best friend standing gazing at me. We both squealed loudly in sync with each other. I kept repeating thank you over and over and after about 10 minutes of just my best friend and I we went to get changed for classes that day(night). I pulled on my black tights and my black denim shorts on and a black shirt with the small goddess emblem over my right breast pocket. Zoey and I ran out of our room into the girls dorm where the buzz of girls surrounded us, I kept my head down until I reached the safety of the refrigerator, in which I grabbed two brown pops one for me and one for Zoey. I was just heading for the door out of the girls dorm when I slammed right into Aphrodite. I slowly redirected my gaze up too her flawless grin surrounded by the ash blonde hair that flowed neatly around her face and reached down to near her not existent waist. Aphrodite used to be the school bully, everybody praised her and was scared of her, that was until Zoey, Damien, Shaunee, Erin and I found out about we each had an element. Now she was almost a nothing. Aphrodites' perfect smile faded to a grimace when she realised who I was "oh Bumpkin" she spluttered "I never realised it was you, you've lost all your" she coughed smugly "Bumpkiness".

I laughed "I think ya'll will find that Bumpkiness is not a word, besides" I looked down at my feet "I'd never leave the room without my boots on" I tapped my foot from side to side and giggled. "You can take the girl out of Oklahoma, but you can't take the Okie out the girl Aphrodite".

I swerved out her way and stumbled my way to catch up with Zoey whom had already reached the hall way and locked my arm in hers, we were best friends after all.

My best friend jumped and pulled away from me and of course I knew why. I swung round and glared up at Erin Night. Of course, him, the boy who is slowly stealing my best friend, the sister I never had away from me. I turned back round and skipped down the hall myself.

I ran right into a solid object. He must have been at least 6ft4 and felt like a giant in comparison too the 5ft3 I owned. I leaped backwards and lost my footing and fell 'Smack' on the floor, I blushed bright and must have looked like a tomato especially with my new red hair. I glanced up at the man standing in front of me. His beautiful green eyes shone down at me and his black, fluffy hair swished around him and made his cheekbones stand out prominently, he was so slim and it made him incredibly adorable. He reached a big hand down which I took gently with my own, he yanked me to my feet and my eyes locked with his, he threaded his fingers through mines and touched my face gently with his other hand. "Who..who a-are you"? I managed to choke out.

He replied "James Stark, but just call me Stark". He pecked my hand and swiftly was on his way again and as quick as that he was gone.
