Chapter 1

He was smarter than this! He knew better! But why…why had he been fooled so easily…? Was his need to grow in strength so strong that it clouded his mind and in turn, his judgment? How could his want for something so simple, lead to something so complicated? This wasn't supposed to happen in the first place! The witch said she only wanted to meet her in exchange for giving him more power to defend those close to him. W-would this… would this be considered a betrayal…?

Chartreuse eyes could only watch in horror as his form moved of its own accord. Silent screams echoed within his mind; his body unable to listen to any of his commands. A lithe arm raised; poised and ready to strike. Quick as lightning, his sharpened blade pierced his friend's chest…

I was only seven when we first met. It wasn't a normal meeting by any standards. Not that anyone knows about it. Most would probably think I was crazy to begin with. But enough about that, let me tell you about my- I mean our story. All of our stories; it all started with a dream….

A small figure knelt next to an old fraying blue backpack. It seemed as if the little accessory would soon meet the end of its days, as the little female continued to fill it to the brim with various items. Little juice boxes and small bottles of water were shoved among school books and folders. Small packages of snacks and candy were also hidden amidst the recesses. The bundles little side pockets were filled with tiny bean bags as well. The little miss meticulously continued her work, making sure everything she needed was safely tucked away. Slowly, she pulled the zipper close, taking great care, so as not to break the already straining threads.

Midnight tresses shimmered with moonlight and azure strands as the young adolescent drew a brush through her dark locks. Little silver stars and moons glimmered in the evening light as the little female climbed into bed; the shapes embellishing the dark fabric of her night gown. Snuggling into the plush pillows, she fell asleep.

A silhouette stood in the shadows; bright turquoise eyes gleaming in the darkness. The small figure continued to watch as the world around him warped and changed.

Nothing could deter the sun from shining brightly within the clear blue horizon. Cotton candy white clouds dotted the vast sky; bringing with it comfortable shade for those whom frolicked beneath them. While sunny, the heat was not unbearably so. Cool wispy breezes kept the intense warmth at bay.

Many took advantage of this day, all including a little girl and her entourage; taking refuge under a rather large leaning tree. Some of the younglings climbed its branches, wanting to take a seat within its sturdy boughs; while others preferred the lush grass covered ground around the topiary. The small female being among those who had climbed, set her bag next to her along the trunk of the tree.

The bag seemed to be bursting at the seams, although still securely closed. Gently pulling the zipper open, she then proceeded to take out some of the sustenance hidden within. Excited cries and claims filled the air around her as her friends shouted out their desired treat. Smiling at their silly antics, the little female began passing out the treats.

Turquoise eyes blinked in curiosity at the antics of the little female's friends. Some snatching snacks away and running around before falling all over each other and finally settling in a circle and enjoying their treats, while others simply chose to sit and chat. Those same turquoise eyes turned to view the girl the figure now sat next to only to see her grinning happily up to him, an offering held within her tiny hands.

A slice of some sort of green swirled cake sat daintily on a white napkin, held in the palm of one hand while the other was clutched around a canned drink. Turquoise orbs traced pale skinny arms up to meet with shining sky blue. "Y-you can see me?" A fumbled gasp escaped his lips as he stared incredulously at the female before him.

Dark tresses bounced wildly as the little girl nodded her head in affirmation. "Of course, Silly!" A soft giggle escaped her lips. "Your silver hair kinda sparkles in the light, ya'know?" The small female tilted her head to the side, and lifted her hands still holding its contents, in offering. "Wanna join us?"

The boy raised an eyebrow in curiosity. Certain wariness began to build up inside him, as he stared at the female he sat beside. After all, they didn't even know each other. "You barely even know me, why would you offer me your food?" guarded eyes studied her features.

"To make friends of course!" a giddy smile stretched across her pale features. A sincerity shone within the depths of her eyes, one that he had only seen on his best friend before now. "You won't regret it I promise!"

He watched as the little female next to him sat up just a little bit taller; her expression changing into a look of determination. While admirable, the position she put herself in, made her rather silly to look at. A bubble of laughter could not be stopped as it forced its way past his lips. "S-sure." He stammered, trying his hardest to keep his chuckles at bay. He held his hands open to accept her givings. "What are these anyway?"

She hummed in response. "This one," one of her now free hands gestured to the creamy green confection sitting on the white napkin, "is a green tea swirled cake. And this one," the hand she had previously used now pointed to the canned drink. "Is pomegranate blueberry tea latte!" She explained. "It's my favorite!" Her enthusiasm clearly shone through her bright smile. Yet, her eyes drew downcast, as she continued to speak. "Most of my friends don't care for the taste though…because it's so subtle. They prefer the bolder ones that hit as soon as you eat it!" Her fist flew out before her, as if hitting an object in front of her. Sky eyes turned to glance at the male beside her, a grin spreading across her lips. "C'mon, try a little! I know you'd smile if you do~."

Looking down at his hands, he placed the drink off towards the side for now. The cake was a strange thing to behold. Well, maybe not so strange, but the color certainly was. He had never seen such a color on cake before, didn't even think that you could make it that color. He was only familiar with the standard, white, brown and pink for this particular dessert. It was a little off-putting… But he decided it was worth it to brave it anyway. Staring at the foreign cake, he made a face and hesitantly took a bit out of it. The pastry was surprisingly good, despite the interesting flavor. It was actually refreshing in a way. A mildly sweet yet creamy flavor with a hint of tea assaulted his sense of taste. The cake itself had a dense sort of moistness to it that seemed as if it melted in his mouth. Looking up with wide eyes, he gave a wide smile.

"It really is good."

Thank you so much for taking the time to read guys! I hope this one turns out better~ =D
