Connor took Katie's hand and pulled her closer to him as they walked down the road. "I haven't been down here since the war," he said, more to himself than to Katie.
Katie raised her eyebrows and snorted. "You mean when you and Travis tried to rob that candy shop?"
"Candy would've given us an energy boost," Connor argued.
"We didn't need it though, seeing as we won. And we were still in the middle of a war!" Katie shook her head in disbelief. Connor would never fully grow up- he's too much of a kid. But then again, she should expect that from a child of Hermes.
Connor cocked his eyebrow and smirked. "You would've loved having a Twix bar."
"I wouldn't have eaten it then, but I definitely would now," Katie smiled and reached into the back pocket of her jeans to get a twenty dollar bill. "By buying it, of course."
"Why pay for stuff when you don't have to?" Connor scoffed at his girlfriend's way of life.
"We've been over this hundreds of times, Connor. It isn't morally right. I'm not going to steal anything that I want. I'm going to pay because I know that that's what's right." You don't need to be a child of Athena to hold onto your pride and dignity.
"What if you don't have money?" Connor shot back at her.
"Then I won't get whatever it is that I want until I work for it- or for the money that I would need for 'it'- whatever 'it' may be."
"You work too much," Connor complained.
"You work too little," Katie replied, not one bit offended by his comments.
"Just once," Connor pleaded. "Steal with me just once."
"No," Katie replied curtly.
Connor sighed, knowing that this was going to end the same way it always ended. Katie always seemed to get her way in the end. "Fine, we'll buy the stupid candy- even though it would be much easier to steal it."
Katie grinned. "'Sometimes the easier path is not the rewarding or well-paved path'."
Connor chuckled. "You are such a quote person."
A/N: Not the best, but I hope you guys enjoyed it.
