"Yesterday's home runs don't win today's games." –Babe Ruth

It's spring of 1965 and life couldn't get better for the Sandlot gang—being the stars of the San Fernando High varsity baseball team pretty much guarantees that.

"Batting first, our hometown legend—everyone, let's have a round of applause for Benny 'The Jet' Rodriguez!"

But all that changes when a new league is formed in the Valley . . .

"Careers and higher education are leading to the masculinization of women. The most disgusting example of this sexual confusion: Mr. Walter Harvey of Harvey Chocolate Bars is presenting us with girl's baseball. Right here in the San Fernando Valley, young girls are being drafted into high school sports teams."

"WHAT?"

Yep, that's right. The All-American Girl's High School Baseball League. And, of course, the San Fernando Peaches have practice at the varsity diamond. Every week.

"Get out of here! Girls can't play baseball!"

"Whaddya mean girls can't play ball?"

These girls can hit, throw, catch, and spit, and they're not quitting any time soon. Even if it means going out of their way to stop the varsity team from losing their Championships. Wait, what?

"So, what you're saying is, unless we convince the goddamned Peaches to pull this off, we can't compete."

"Yes."

"What did we get ourselves into?"

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

(To the tune of 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game'): Who says girls can't play baseball? Who says women can't throw? Give them a league of their own to play, then step back and get out of their way. So let's all root for the girl's team, and give the poor coach a break. 'Cause it's flash, crash, we're having a bash at the old ballgame!

Yesterday's Runs

Coming Soon

This is kind of a crossover with A League of Their Own. I actually wanted people to read this, so I didn't put it as one. Watching the movie will not be necessary, although it is highly recommended. The entire Rockford Peaches team will be in it, but as teenagers in the sixties instead of young adults in the forties.

I'm currently on hiatus, so uploading the next chapter might take a while.

Over & Out,
