Into the woods: Prologue
A low whistle of wind blew through the dark forest, rustling leaves. A hooting owl could be heard in the distance. But all was still... then crack! A huge oak tree collapsed, all of it burned. Clouds circled overhead, darkening as they moved. The skies opened allowing buckets of water to fall to the ground, drenching anything and anyone in it's wake. Then a clap of thunder shook the ground, as the winds began to speed up. And in this massive storm stood three people. To any ordinary person it would have seemed that they had just appeared, maybe from with in the storm. One of the people a female with dark red hair, looked around. "Marvin,"she said gesturing to the storm,"do you know what this is?" Marvin and the other person, a male looked at each other uneasily. "Um, a storm?" The woman whipped her head around, "I know that you twit! But what else?"she asked impatiently. The second man stepped forward,"Lightning", he said proudly. "Yes, and what else?" "Oh, um we..." as he was about to finish his sentence a clap of thunder shook the ground, causing both men to jump back. But the woman seemed unfazed as she gazed at the pitch black sky. "It's time," she said turning to the men, "do you have it?" Marvin fumbled through his coat, finally extracting a small box. "Yes!"she exclaimed as she grabbed it from Marvin's grasp. She then walked into the storm and bent down, her red hair whipping in the wind. She then opened the box. A loud scream erupted from it, splitting into the night. Both men crouched down with their hands over their head to block out the sound. But the woman stayed upright grinning at the box. The winds began to go out of control, ripping of branches and leaves of trees. The screaming became louder and louder and ...silence. The woman bent down and picked up the box. She made her way to the men who were still on the floor. "Get up!" She yelled at them while still having her eyes trained on the small box in her hands. They quickly scrambled to their feet. She looked each one of them in the eye. Then she began to laugh. After a couple of awkward chuckles the men joined in. The woman wiped a tear from her eye. From somewhere within her cloak she pulled out a wand. A battered and burned wand. She held it over head towards the sky,"Both the magic and muggle world will bow down to me or my name isn't Marilyn Riddle!" She exclaimed as she flicked her wand and then...they were gone. As fast as they had come. And all was silent. A low whistle of wind blew through the dark forest, rustling leaves. An in the distance a hooting owl could be heard.
