Disclaimer-I don't own death note,

Linda turned off the television and buried her face in her hands. Two more gone… The people on the screen could only have been Mello and Matt. Who else but Mello would be insane enough to kidnap a woman who had more bodyguards than Near had toys? Who else but Matt would have been able to face dozens of armed men with that casual smirk still in place?

Two more gone…. They were all falling… She had gotten a call from Rodger the month before saying X had been killed in a drive-by shooting. E had died some time before that by suicide. Drugs…Violence… Depression… Was is physically impossible for a Wammy's child to live a normal happy life?

She pulled at her hair in frustration. Why did this hit her so hard? They had all been falling; slowly. Ever since A…. ever since B… Linda pressed her thumbs against her eyelids, as if doing so would chase away the images haunting her. Images of the boy who drew razors across his wrist until he bled out… Of the boy with blood red eyes and a chilling laugh… Of children who fell, children who broke, and children just plain slipped through the cracks…

The truth was, she just never believed Mello could die. He always seemed so vibrant, so alive. With his violent temper and shining hair he surpassed everyone, if not in grades then in personality…

And Matt. The only boy she had ever liked…maybe even loved. How could he be gone? Nothing could possibly touch him: the boy with the happy-go-lucky smirk, crazy laugh, and the way he sprawled on the couch when gaming; lazy and careless… Now he was lost… The same way as X.

If this were a fairy tale they wouldn't have died… Matt would have worn shining armor to protect him from the bullets, and he could have rushed to save sleeping beauty from her burning tower… But the tale of Wammy's House is not a fairy tale, nor is it a love story.

It was the tale of a great man who could never be duplicated and geniuses that could never quite measure up. It was a tale of anger and passion; of numbness and self-forget. A story of false hopes, empty dreams and plans gone wrong…of broken promises, betrayal and ruin...

Silent tears slipped down her cheeks as the memories overcame her. Matt's warm hand around her small one. 'Linda…I love you baby'

Mello's rage when Near once again beat him…

His warm lips pressing gently against her own…

Jace's obnoxious laughter…'guess what, Linda?...chicken butt! Ah-hahaha!'

The fear they had all felt when A was discovered, lying in the bathroom covered in his own blood…

"Stop…" she murmured, but the memories were relentless… L's death… Mello leaving… The betrayal she felt when Matt left her… She rocked back and forth pulling at her hair. 'Linda you gossipy bitch…hehe that's why I love you girlie…' O was gone too….

B's tortured screams upon seeing his dead friend…

'You want to play?' he asked extending the second controller towards her…he never let anyone play with him…

He grinned, 'You're like my princess peach...'

London Bridges falling down, falling down, falling down….

'You have talent Linda, don't blow it away…' even Watari was gonegonegone.

She collapsed back on the floor, mentally exhausted. Gone. They were all gone. Only she was left… Only her and Near. A bitter laugh broke through her tears. Who would have ever thought she would out-survive them all…?

A/N-Reviews would be great. ;D
