Prompt: Jay's reaction after watching the tape with Jessica on it.
From the dimly lighted hotel room, Jay could hardly believe his eyes. He knew Tim said he shouldn't watch the tape, but he hardly had any clue that this is what the tape contained. He had just witnessed proof that Jessica, the woman he had sworn to find after being separated from her during their encounter with the faceless being, was gone. Not just gone, but more than likely dead. After all he had gone through during the past four years, it was rare for Jay to stress out so much that he could cry. However, his eyes were becoming hot as his vision began to blur. Against his will, Jay let out a slight sob and a tear fell from his eyes.
He had just witnessed Jessica not only being taken from the hotel by the Masked Man and the Hooded Man and deep into Rosswood Park, and not only Alex nearly killing her, but he had to watch from her perspective, the terror she endured as she tried to flee the park. The poor woman was so frightened from the experience that she didn't notice that the figure she was pleading for help from was the very being they had all been trying to escape from. That very mistake cost Jessica her life.
While Jay didn't see who it was that killed her, he knew it was either Alex, who was seen staring down at something, gun in hand, or it was the faceless being, or rather the Operator. Regardless of who killed her, Jay knew that the Operator was the one that took her body. He took notice that the disappearance of her body was very much like the disappearance of the man Alex had killed in the tunnel. More tears fell from his eyes and onto his jeans. The words Alex told Jessica were repeating in his mind. It's all Jay's fault Jessica, I'm sorry.
Jay put his head in his hands. "My fault…" Surely it couldn't be all his fault, right? After all, Alex was the one that gave him the tapes and started this. If he didn't want Jay or anyone else trying to solve this, he would have just burned all the tapes like he tried with the two tapes that became Entries 70 and 71.
"Jessica, I'm so sorry…" He whispered. "Should I just quit trying to get to the bottom of this altogether..?" He mumbled as he stood up, staring at his laptop screen. "… No, then it really will ruin all I've been working for." He sat in front of his laptop to begin editing the footage, making the beginning and ending cards as always. He looked up, staring seemingly at nothing as he made a declaration. "Don't worry Jessica, I'll figure all this out. Even if it does cost me my life..."
