Hermione never thought she could fall in love especially with her greatest enemy. Yet here she was in the Great Hall waiting for her "knight in shining armor" to walk through those doors. She didn't know what attracted her to him. Maybe it was smile. Or maybe it was his wit. She didn't know but all she did know is that she was head over heels in love and she could never tell him the truth.

Flashback

Today was Hermione's first day as Head Girl and she was more excited then ever. She didn't know who the Head Boy was but she was certain that no one would be able to ruin her mood today. Boy was she ever wrong. When he walked through the door it felt like a lead weight had dropped into her stomach. It was the vilest scum of the Earth.

Draco Malfoy. "What are you doing here Malfoy? Don't you have better things to do then terrorize me? Why don't you go and run back to your precious Pureblood Slytherins? I am sure that they will get a laugh from you saying that you picked on the mudblood again." Instead of saying anything Malfoy just stood there with a smug look on his face and couldn't help saying. "You know for being at the top of our class your not very bright. Haven't you figured it out yet Granger? I am the new Head Boy and you are just going to have to deal with it." With that he sat down across from her and smirked she could barely stand him. "Why don't we call a truce Granger? We have to live together so we might as well try to be nice to each other." He held out his hand for her to shake and when she touched her hand to his she felt this sharp sense of electricity flash between them. She pulled her hand back in alarm. "Fine. No calling me names and we can't keep calling each other Malfoy and Granger if we are forced to spend the academic year living together we have to at least make it seem that we like each other as friends." She looked at him for approval and he casually nodded. Then for the rest of the trip they sat in total silence waiting for the train to arrive.

End of Flashback

For the next few months things progressed rather smoothly. They stayed out of each other's way and when they were forced to be together they passed it off in subtle resignation. Although Hermione couldn't deny that she was starting to feel something for the Slytherin Prince. Although she could never let him know because it would ruin their friendship if he didn't feel the same way and also they could never be together because they came from completely different worlds. So she was resigned to watching from afar and wishing for a day that would never come.

That was what brought her to today as she watched him walk through those heavy oak doors she held a secret that she could never reveal. So no matter how much her heart broke every time he smiled at her and how she felt a tear come to her eye every time he flirted with a girl and she was in viewing distance she had to hide it. This was because she knew she would never be anything more then just a friend.
