Shot

Just as she was about to shoot, something hit the woman's hand and the gun flew through the room, eventually falling a few steps away from its owner.

'Would you teach me how to shoot a gun?'

'What?'

The astonished boy looked at his girlfriend in the eye. She looked away and kept caressing his bare chest with her hand.

'Why would you want to learn that?'

'It can be useful', she answered. 'One never knows when a life or death situation may take place… Being part of the Organisation, we live in permanent danger, don't we?'

'Shooting a gun isn't a game', he replied. 'Taking someone else's life… '

'I am not saying that I am going to kill someone', she interrupted him. 'And I know that it comes with heavy moral implications…'

'No, you don't.'

She looked at him and noticed his serious face. She sighed and moved her arms around her boyfriend, hugging him. His skin felt cold.

'I don't want you to carry such burden for the rest of your life', he muttered. 'It is… it is just too much to live with.'

'I know, and you are so brave for carrying on. But I want to learn how to shoot a gun – I want to be able to fight back, to save myself and my loved ones if I ever need to do so.'

The boy didn't say a word. He closed his eyes and rested his head on her shoulder.

'Will you teach me?'

The woman in black crouched and her arm moved towards the gun. Shiho didn't stop to think – she crouched too, kneeling down, and took the gun before the woman could even reach it.

'First, check if it's loaded. Is it?'

'Yes, it is.'

'Now, take your right hand and grip the gun on the back strap.'

'Like this?'

'Yes, that's perfect. Hold it a little higher… Okay. Now, place your left hand on the rest of the grip. That's it. Straighten that finger… Perfect.'

'And now?'

'First, align the front sight with the rear sight.'

'Okay'

'Now fix the gun on our target and move your right index onto the trigger.'

Right hand, left hand. The seconds suddenly felt like hours as Shiho placed her shrunken hands around the gun. She aimed at the window and took a deep breath.

'Be sure to hold it tight.'

Gin's scent around her.

'Click the safety off.'

His breath caressing the back of her neck. His hands on her shoulders.

'And now…'

Those kids who didn't know her and still had tried to become her friends. That boy whose brother had been kidnapped.

She had said that she wanted to save her loved ones, but she couldn't save her sister from Gin.

She could not save herself from him.

Her finger squeezed the trigger.

'… shoot.'

Author's notes:

Hello! ¡Hola! Salut! Hallo! Konnichiwa! Here comes Sherry Furude once more, ready for attack.

First of all - yes, the parts in italics are Shiho's memories. And yes, this fic 'takes place' in the file 178 (episode 129 of the anime).

Another fic in English! And why is it in English? Well... I don't think there is an actual reason!

I've been wanting to create some GinSherry fanwork for a couple of days. This morning, the idea of Shiho asking Gin to teach her how to shoot a gun came to me all of sudden. I considered the ways I could turn that into a fic, the possible plots and alll, and started writing it down after lunch. And here it is the 'final product'! I hope you like it as much as I do!

I should mention that I have never shot a gun. And how did I write this? Ask my Google History XD. I simply looked it up. Thus, there may be mistakes in the 'teaching how to shoot' part. If you find any, please tell me! I encourage you to tell me of any mistake you may find in the fic, be it of any kind! I want to improve my writing as much as I can!

Lots of love and see you next time!,
