I don't own Monk. I don't own any of the characters. I don't even own That's So Raven which inspired this story
Ever since he was sixteen months old Randy Disher had been getting visions. Most people didn't understand and made fun of him for it. Because of that he tried to hide his visions from people. It was embarrassing. Randy however didn't know yet how valuable his visions were.

((Several years later))
"It's an umbilical cord. They're never straight"
"Bet his was," Stottlemyer teased pointing to Monk
Just then the phone rang
"Hello… Randy slow down… when… that's 10 minutes from now… how do you know that… you had… you have visions…? Okay… look just calm down we'll be over there as soon as we can. Do NOT let her get in that car… you what? You did? Good job Randy. Why did you tell her she was… excellent… we'll be right there son"
Stottlemyer hung up.
"Monk," he said we have to go"
"Why? Did something happen?"
"No… and it won't thanks to Randy. He had a vision"
"Oh?"
"There's a bomb in the car that Trudy was driving and it is supposed to go off in 10 minutes"
"It what?"
"Don't worry. Randy is there. He is holding her from getting in the car. But it's going to go off in ten minutes either way"
"Come on," Monk said, "we have no time to waste."
They got down to the garage is minutes. Trudy was looking frightened and confused
"What's going on," she whispered, "it doesn't make sense"
He ran to her and enclosed her in his arms.
"It's okay," he consoled her, "Randy had a vision-"
"Check under the driver's seat," Randy told them
Monk handed them the keys. Sure enough Randy was right. There was in fact a bomb in the driver's seat of the car.

(Four hours later)
"Randy why didn't you ever let anyone know you had visions"
"It was embarrassing," Randy explained
"Embarrassing?"
"When I was in school kids used to make fun of me for having visions"
"When I was in school kids used to make fun of me for being observant but did I care? Yes," Monk admitted, "but eventually I realized it was a gift… and a curse"
He paused and put his arm around his wife.
"Your gift on the other hand is just a gift"
"You really think so?"
"Randy, if it hadn't been for you my wife would be either dead or very seriously injured.
"I know but-"
"There is not buts about it. There just aren't"
"What if I had been wrong?"
"It's better to go with your feelings," Monk replied, "and be wrong then it is to second-guess yourself and be right"
"Speaking of which," Trudy said, "am I-"
Monk just looked at her with love in his eyes
"You already were," he pointed out kissing her, "thank GOD for that"
