'Are you aware that you're pregnant, Corporal Lane?'
Her heart pounds as she sits in the waiting room waiting for her name to be called. It's been just four weeks since that one sentence changed her entire life and she still hasn't completely got her head around it. She had gone to the military doctor to be officially cleared to return to active duty; she was the last one who needed to get cleared after Bangladesh but ever since that day she's been on desk duty under the pretence that her injuries still haven't healed properly; her family aren't even aware yet.
'Georgie Lane.' The nurse says causing her to instantly glance up. Standing up, she makes her way over to the nurse before glancing over her shoulder.
'Aren't you coming?' She asks.
'I-I wasn't sure if you would want me to.' He admits causing her to smile.
'Of course I want you to come in. This is your baby as well, Charlie.' She says softly as he stands up and makea his way over to her. She puts her hand out to him and he instantly links his fingers through hers as they follow the nurse through to the room.
'If you'd just like pop yourself onto the bed and lift your top to just underneath your chest.' The nurse says and Georgie nods her head.
'You okay?' Charles asks quietly as Georgie positions herself on the bed and raises her t-shirt before the nurse tucks some paper into the top of her jeans.
'Mmm... Nervous.' She admits causing him to smile. He once again links his fingers through hers and gently runs his thumb across the back of her hand. Their relationship is complicated; they aren't exclusively in a relationship and he's technically still married to Molly but they're having a baby together and they can't deny that there is feelings there.
'How are you feeling?' Charles asks glancing at Georgie as she sits in the passenger seat of his car.
'Honestly? Amazed. It's crazy to think that there is an actual tiny human growing inside me. That's our little baby, Charlie.' Georgie replies softly as she stares down at the scan picture in her hand.
'I know. It's amazing to see, isn't it? I remember seeing them with Sam and it just gets more amazing the bigger they get.' Charles says.
'Thirteen weeks... I just can't believe it. I was so sure something was going to be wrong, in fact I was so terrified that there was going to be nothing there.' Georgie admits.
'What do you want to do now? Do you want to go for some lunch?' Charles asks as she slides the photos into her bag and glances back over at him.
'I'm not really that hungry but I do want to pick up a little outfit that I can use to tell my mum and dad with.' She replies causing him to smile.
'We can do that. Where to then? Mothercare?' He asks and she nods her head.
'Please.' She replies smiling. It's only a short drive to Mothercare where they park the car and make their way inside.
'Oh, wow... This place is huge; I can't believe we're actually going to need stuff from here.' Georgie says glancing around the store.
'Do you just want to get an outfit or do you want to look around?' Charles asks smiling at her.
'Can we look around? An outfit is all I really want to buy but I'd like to just look around a little bit.' She replies and he nods his head.
'Course we can.' He says.
To Marie, Lulu :
Make sure you're home for 3. I've got presents xx
Making her way into her parents' house closely followed by Charles, she can't stop her hands from shaking as she holds the gift bag tightly in her left hand.
'I don't think I can do this.' She mumbles cause Charles to smile. He places his hand on her lower back and gently kisses the top of her head.
'It'll be fine. This is good news, Georgie.' He says. Taking a deep breath, Georgie nods her head and makes her way into the living room where her entire family are along with Fingers, an unexpected surprise.
'Oh, Charles... We weren't expecting you!' Grace says instantly standing up.
'Charlie and I have some news.' Georgie says, her heart starting to pound as Fingers smiles up at them both. Taking a deep breath, Georgie hands the gift bag to her mum who raises her eyebrows and begins to pull the pale yellow tissue paper out of the bag. Positioned at the bottom of the bag is the tiniest little grey outfit which consists of little leggings and a little grey onesie with hello world printed across the front.
'Fuck right off!' Marie squeals instantly jumping off the sofa and making her way over to Georgie.
'What the- Is this what I think it is, Georgie? I didn't even know you two were together.' Grace says and Georgie smiles.
'Things are- Things are complicated but we're having a baby and we're happy, aren't we?' Georgie says glancing up at Charles who nods his head.
'This wasn't something we expected but we're happy. Your daughter means the world to me and nothing will change that.' Charles replies.
'Aren't you married?' Marie asks.
'I am separated. I am legally still married to Molly but things between us have been difficult for a while. We actually split up during our last tour.' Charles replies as Georgie leans back against him.
'So how far along actually are you?' Grace asks as she sits at the bottom of Georgie's bed with a small smile on her face.
'Thirteen weeks.' Georgie replies.
'And Charles, how did that whole thing come about?' Grace asks and Georgie shrugs her shoulders.
'I don't know, I really just don't know.' Georgie replies.
'Do you have feelings for him?' Grace asks and Georgie sighs.
'Yeah, I just- It's really complicated because of Molly and Elvis, mum. I still miss Elvis and I still think about him every single day. I feel like I'm ripping Molly's family apart.' Georgie replies and Grace nods her head.
'If anyone will understand about Elvis it will be Charles; he was Elvis' best friend, wasn't he?' Grace says and Georgie nods her head.
'Plus, did anything happen between you and Charles before things with Molly ended?' Grace asks.
'No. Nothing happened until they'd actually split up… We're not rushing anything; we spoke about it and we don't want to pressure anything just because I'm pregnant. We're just going to see how it goes.' Georgie replies.
'What's meant to be will be, Georgie.' Grace says smiling.
I know not everyone is big on the whole Charles/Georgie paring and to be honest I'm not 100% sold on it either but I had this idea as an alternative storyline than the one they will portray in the new series. There will be a lot of drama throughout the story, a lot of ups and downs but also a lot of happy times for Georgie… There may or may not be an appearance from Molly later on. I hope you enjoy this even if you aren't the biggest fan of the pairing.
