Leap of Faith

A Tokka oneshot. Or one-sided Tokka, anyways. I was bored and thinking about the finale. This is what happened.

It's kind of sad, just to warn you.

Maybe falling wouldn't have been so bad after all.

Maybe dying would've been better than this.

If she had died, if she had fallen into the water, forced him to let go of her hand, then she wouldn't have to listen to her voice anymore. She wouldn't have to listen to him thank her a million times over, stealing kisses any chance he can. She wouldn't have to mutter out her own thanks, as painful as it is, and pretend to be happy.

Drowning can't be so bad, right?

He'll still be alive and she won't. She won't have to put up with any of it anymore.

He'll be sad. Maybe. But he has his girlfriend to comfort him, doesn't he?

She won't feel anything anymore. She'll be pushing up daisies indifferently.

She's still looking for a cliff. That way she won't know. She'll be blinded for real. No earth to comfort her, nothing to hold her back. Just the wind and the smack of her body hitting the water. The burning as the water floods her lungs. She almost drowned once before; it never made sense to her that water could burn. Could fire feel like water? Could earth feel like air?

Her efforts do not rest in vain. She finds her cliff, cropping out over the ocean high in the sky. She remembers it and keeps it tucked away in a special place in her mind. When all of the lovers quarrels and happiness and peace become too much for her, she walk away.

She feels the vibrations; everything thriving with life. Her senses stop when the water comes. Something she can't see through.

Good. She doesn't want to see anymore.

She's balancing at the edge of the rock, her toes resting in empty air. She's waiting for the moment to push herself off, to get the nerve to just do it. Everything else always came so easy to her. Taking risks was always nothing. Why can't she do this?

"Toph? Toph, what are you doing?"

That's all it takes. His voice. His voice that she knows will never belong to her.

She doesn't say anything. She just lets herself fall.

"TOPH!"

Surely… it won't be so bad…

Aww… *sniff* I just killed Toph. Actually, maybe she doesn't die. Maybe Sokka saves her, I don't know. I didn't think that far ahead. I'm a horrible person… J Decide what you'd like.

Anyway, please review! I'd really appreciate it!
