Back to Black
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I'll go back to black
"I have been a fool. Made mistakes. Monumental ones. But I have gained a clear understanding of my place in the universe. Of who I am. Starscream: aligned with no side, servant to no one."
The second in command should always be loyal and faithful to their masters. Answer to their every whip and aid them at their beck and call. No matter how arduous the task was, he had to sought out his biding, even if it meant standing on his aching sockets or low on energon.
Though, he wasn't always the second command of Megatron...
He once was Air Commander of a squadron of Energon Seekers on Cybertron. He was proud of his accomplishment and hoped no end would come of his status. Until the council found his hidden addiction and moonlighting dealings. He was so high and mighty. Had everything at the grasp of his fingertips... Going on the wrong tracks undid all of his hard work and accomplishments.
Then war came, and the council went under collapse, as well as the economy and industry.
Resistance slowly began to build under the mighty cities of Cybertron, and they had succeeded in conquering the entire planet. Starscream immediately joined, before the rebellion overthrew the planet, and flew through the ranks.
Soon, they were called Decepticons.
Though he was only second in command. He should be the one leading the cause. If he was leader, he would advance the Decepticons to victory, they wouldn't have to wait that long to vanquish what was left of the Autobots. He came so far to reclaim what he used to be for so long. Only one more step and he was there.
But he couldn't reach for it.
No matter how hard he tried, he was always went back two steps behind.
The only thing- the only one, standing in his way was Megatron. With him out of the way, everything would be at his disposal. Everything that was taken away from him... can be his again.
And he tried. He tried and he tried, but no matter how excellent his plans seemed, they would always back fire.
"The fact is Starscream, despite your treachery, I've allowed you to carry on this long because I took a certain delight in following your string of failures. But you've finally become tiresome, predictable... you've hit rock bottom."
Then it hit him. He would never achieve of what he had in the past. He couldn't reclaim... what he wanted for eons and eons. No matter what he did. No matter how many crimes he committed. No matter if he was a Decepticon... or not.
Thus, he abandoned his Decepticon allegiance, and left his master's side. With or without social climbing, he will get back what he had lost so many years ago. No matter how long or how many broken laws and rules it took.
With a chuckle, he breathed, "and I go back to black..."
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to that
And I go back to blackā¦
Note*~
Song: Back to Black - Glee (original score: Amy Winehouse) (The Glee version's more 'cleaner'.)
I adore Naya Rivera's rendition of the song, and I've been listening to it so much, and then I thought the themes suited Starscream's relationship with Megatron, so subtract the 'romantic' tones of the lyrics, and it would fit them well. :D Like "you go back to that" was originally "you go back to her". That was the only change I made to suite the story.
Pace! Hope you like.
XOXO
