A shiver brushes it's way through my body due to the chilly November air.

"Are you cold, Molly?" Gil asks, rushing to take off his jacket and wrap me in it's warmth.

The winter stars illuminate the earth casting a fragile light over our still bodies.

I glance over at Gil to find him staring intently into the lake spread out below us.

The starry sky is reflected in his eyes making him seem as if the world can't quite contain him. And I guess it can't.

He rubs his arms in an attempt to stay warm, so I take off his jacket.

"Don't," he tells me when I offer it to him, "you'll be cold."

A smile spreads across my face at his caring words.

Not all love is kind, but his is. "Not if you keep me warm."

I giggle placing his jacket over his shoulders and climbing into his lap.

He instinctively wraps his arms around me protectively, and gives me his warmest smile.

"Well this works too." He chuckles before moving his gaze back to the lake water.

I snuggle deeper into his chest and direct my focus back on the air around us.

It's so beautifully silent. The only sounds that fill my ears are the crickets chirping softly along to the steady consistent beat of my lover's heart.

"Why do you always watch the lake," I ask after a while, breaking the silence, "rather than the sky?" Gil adverts his eyes from the lake and instead stares intently into mine.

"The reflection." He says finally. "I like the reflection. It seems so vast, so bright, so beautiful. An exact copy of the night sky. I get lost in it, and I often forget what's real, and what's not." He sighs and picks up a stone that sits near us on the grass.

"Look, it's so perfect right now, the lake, it's so undisturbed."

Then he tosses the rock, and as it hits the water with a splash, it creates ripples that resound across the lake.

And in that moment the perfect image of the night sky is broken.

"It's just an illusion. But it still manages to be impossibly beautiful. A reflection."

I stare up at him and whisper the the simple words I know he loves to hear. "I love you."

He doesn't answer, but just presses his lips to mine, and I melt inside.

He kisses me gently, but firmly.

So I know that every beat of his heart is meant for me, and mine for him.

Just as my eyes flutter closed, he pulls back, resting his forehead on mine.

"Keep your eyes open." He commands bringing a hand to my cheek.

"Why?"

"Because... I can see the reflection." He whispers bringing his lips back to mine.

And done!

I personally love this one shot, but that just might be me because I am a HUGE Golly fan.

But can I get a "HEYO" for my first oneshot ever?!
