CHAPTER ONE
McGee gazed over to the other side of the room where Abby was jumping about from machine to machine, like an excited child. Her hair appeared to be alive as her black pigtails bounced about on her head. Her enthusiasm for almost everything was one of the reasons he had fallen in love with her. Just at that Abby whipped round,
"What are you staring at McGee? Do I have something on my face?"
"Uhh… I'm… noth… nothing, I just…" Just at that Gibbs strode into the room. He wouldn't have to explain himself. For now anyway.
"What have you got Abbs?"
Abby smiled, "Do you want the good news or the bad news?"
Gibbs stared at Abby and before he could reply Abby blurted, "Don't answer that. Bad news first. I always like giving the bad news first, then when I give the good news it makes the bad news…"
"Is this going somewhere?" Asked Gibbs.
"Oh, right, well, I found another set of fingerprints on the knife that aren't Rory Johnstone's. And they aren't on the system." Said Abby, barely understandable. "That's the bad news," she added.
"So there's more than one killer," Gibbs thought aloud, "and the good news?"
"The blood on the knife matches our first victim, but I didn't find any of the second victim's DNA on here." Abby held the knife in the evidence bag centimetres from her face and examined it closely.
"Then, it must be the murder weapon that was used on the first victim. I want you to find out who the other set of prints belongs to"
"You know I will, Gibbs." She said as she turned round. "I always do." Abby turned back round to smile at her boss, but he had already disappeared and McGee had vanished with him. Abby shook her head and picked the evidence bag containing the knife up again. It's wooden handle was severely splintered and parts of it were completely missing. "Strange choice for a murder weapon," she muttered as she turned her music back up loud.
