Taking Care of Silkie
"Okay," Shadowcobra began, "How in the world did she talk us into this?"
"Do the words, 'Puppy-Dog-Eyes' mean anything?" Pluto responded. Shadowcobra groaned.
"I dunno guys," Draco said, "He's kinda cute."
"How do you know it's a he?" Shadowcobra asked. Draco shrugged.
The Titans (Beast Boy, Cyborg, Robin, Starfire and Raven) had all gone to Tamaran because Starfire had ambassador duty to do. She was to host a treaty to set up a possible alliance. Her 'nanny', Galfore, had informed them that royalty was needed and since Starfire was next for the throne…well, you get the picture.
Terra and Jinx had gone out shopping, leaving the Knights alone in the Tower.
Alone to take care of Silkie, Starfire' pet mutant silkworm.
Silkie just stared dumbly at them and gave them a huge grin.
"A whole week," Shadowcobra muttered, "A whole bloody week of taking care of this…this…"
"Mutant freak of nature?" Pluto suggested.
"Exactly."
"Come on guys, he's not that bad. You're a good boy, aren't YEOWCH!" Draco had gone to pet the little grub but said grub chomped on his hand. Draco went running around the living room with a mutant silkworm clamped on his hand. "GETITOFFGETITOFFGETITOFF!"
Shadowcobra and Pluto watched as Draco ran all over the place flailing his arms around and screaming.
"So," Shadowcobra began, "What's on the list?"
Pluto picked up a piece of paper, "Basic stuff. Clean him, feed him, take him for walks…"
"Zorka berries?" Shadowcobra questioned. "Aren't those the berries that made him grow to the size of two buses?"
Pluto reminded, "Just don't overfeed him and everything will be normal."
Draco ran in front of them screaming with half his head in Silkie's mouth.
"Or what ever passes for it," Pluto added sighing.
"I am not talking it for walkies."
Later…
"What is this?" Shadowcobra said, raising his hands.
"A leash," Pluto answered.
"Didn't I say I wasn't going to take it for walkies?" Shadowcobra hissed.
"The list says that YOU have to take it for a walk," Pluto shoved the list in the grimacing snake Knight's face. In Starfire's own handwriting, it read exactly, 'Shadow, please take my bomgorf Silkie for a walk.'
Shadowcobra sighed, defeated. "How's Draco?"
"Still traumatized with having a mutant bug almost eat him alive. Won't come out of his room," Pluto answered.
Shadowcobra rolled his eyes and sighed. He went to Silkie and put the leash on the little bug. "This does not mean I like you," he hissed. Silkie merely drooled.
Much later…
"How was the walk?" Pluto asked. He was sitting on the couch reading a newspaper.
Shadowcobra looked worse for wear. There were twigs and leaves in his hair and his cloak and uniform was covered in mud. His eyes twitched with annoyance as he picked Silkie up and shoved him, roughly, into Pluto's arms.
"CLEAN HIM NOW!" Shadowcobra exclaimed, huffing as he made his way to his room.
"What's his problem?" Pluto asked, Silkie suddenly coughed out a brown hairball. "Ok…"
