AN: Just another Carter/Dana fanfiction. My others are After the Battle,
Snow Day. New Year's Kiss, and A Rainy Afternoon. This one is inspired by
the episode Go Volcanic about the volcano, and where Dana was on the bus
which was being held hostage. Thought of it last night.
Dana smiled in relief as she saw her fellow rangers arrive with their zord vehicles. The bus was dangling over the edge of the cliff and could go at any moment. Currently she was in a precarious position, trying to keep someone from falling out of the bus.
He was still a human being even if he had taken people hostage and she just couldn't let him die. Thankfully the other passengers lent a hand and soon Joel began trying to set the bus upright.
She had seen her life flash before her eyes and it had never happened before even though she was a Power Ranger. She wasn't ready to die yet she still had a lot she wanted to do.
One thing especially was to confess her feelings to the man she was in love with, Carter Grayson, the Red Ranger, even if he didn't feel the same.
"Dana!" she looked up to see the object of her thoughts come in with the other rangers, "are you all right?"
"I am now." As soon as they got everything situated on the bus making sure everything was all right, they headed off to fight Diabolico and Queen Bansheera's latest monster.
Finally the battle was over and they all headed to the bus stop where they watched the hostage taker being taken to jail, but just before he had smiled and said, "things will be different after I get out."
Dana had felt Carter's hands on her shoulders and she had to admit she enjoyed his touch but it wasn't the time to say it. Later that day she found her father.
"What do you think about Carter?"
Captain Mitchell looked at her, "he's a great ranger and a great person."
"I have feelings for him."
"Dana if you like him you don't need my blessing for anything, I'll be happy for both of you."
Dana smiled and kissed his cheek, "thanks dad."
She soon found Carter by an observation deck watching the ocean life swim by. "Hey Carter."
He smiled, "hey yourself."
"Mind if I join you?"
"No I've always enjoyed your company."
Dana felt her heart warm at that statement as she stood beside him, and they stood quietly for awhile. Finally Carter spoke, "today when I saw that bus half off the edge I realized how close you came to."
"I didn't" she replied quickly.
"It was ok in the end but it made me realize how much you mean to me, Dana I don't you if you feel the same but I'm in love with you."
He was surprised by what happened next, she kissed him on the lips then pulled away, "in case you can't tell I feel the same."
Just then they heard whistling and saw their friends watching the whole thing, "way to go Carter" Joel clapped him on the shoulder.
Dana smiled to herself; Joel would probably think he now had a chance to win Ms. Fairweather.
Soon their friends left to give them time alone and spent the day staring at each other.
