"Temari's Advice"

Gaara's pen tapped a nervous staccato against his desk as he stared down at the blank piece of parchment. He had so much to say, but how come it wouldn't come?

"Write him a letter—I know you miss him," Temari had suggested to him earlier that morning not long before she left on her mission to Konoha. On the outside, he had just blankly stared at the kunoichi, but on the inside he felt almost deeply jealous of her because she was getting to go to Konoha and would no doubt see Shikamaru when she could. And Gaara wanted so badly to see Naruto...but he was stuck here in Suna.

He'd been missing Naruto something awful of late and he wasn't exactly sure why. He also hated that Temari could see through him. He hated being transparent to her, to anyone.

"Even if you don't send it, you'll at least be able to empty your mind of him a little. Sometimes, I can't stand the pressure, the intensity of longing I get for Shikamaru. Sometimes I miss him so much I can't even breathe. At those times I have to sit down and write to him. Though I never send them…because I always say too much," Temari had explained.

Gaara realized she wasn't even really talking to him so much as talking at him. Her mind was already set on one thing. Shikamaru.

"I'm not getting anywhere with this stupid task," Gaara groaned out loud, but he finally stopped tapping his pen and wrote something down on the parchment.

Naruto,

Miss you.

~ Gaara

It was straight to the point.
