Just a quick one-shot that I felt like writing.
"I don't wanna go!" 3 year old Erica protested.
"And why not?" Chandler asked. He was holding Jack in one arm.
"Cause I wanna play with my new toys!" The twins had just turned three and they had just gotten a lot of new toys for their birthday.
"We have to go to the store. Please get up. You can play with your toys later."
"No! I'm not going!" She yelled as she folded her arms while sitting on the floor.
Chandler sighed. This was going to be a fun shopping trip, He thought. "Alright. Fine." He put Jack down, picked her up and went to bring her to the car.
She tried to get free and wouldn't stop moving. "Put me down!"
He tried to hold onto her but before he could catch her she fell to floor. There was so much blood everywhere and she was unconscious. "Erica!" Chandler yelled as he picked her up and tried to figure out where the bleeding was coming from. He quickly put the kids in their car seats and started driving. He called Monica's work and left a message for her.
"Daddy, I don't feel so good." Erica said slowly regaining consciousness.
"I know sweetie. I'm sorry. We'll be at the hospital soon. Do you remember what happened?" Chandler felt awful. Everyone was right, he was a dropper. He just never expected he'd drop his own child.
"No. Daddy, I scared of hosibles."
"I know. But you have to go. They're going to make you feel better."
"It's okay, I here." Jack said as he looked at Erica. "You have a big boo boo cuz daddy dropped you."
"Oh..."
"Okay, we're here." Chandler said as he picked up Erica and held Jack's hand.
"She has a concussion and she'll need a few stitches to close up the wound on her forehead. We'd like to keep her overnight for observation." Erica was sitting on the bed with Jack while Chandler sat in the chair beside the bed.
"O-okay." He put his head in his hands.
The nurse began to clean Erica up and prepped her for the stitches. "I don't want that." She said as she looked at the needle.
Chandler got up, and sat on the bed. He placed her on his lap. "It's okay. It'll only hurt for a little bit and then it'll make it feel better."
"But I don't want that."
"I know, I'm sorry." He felt awful. "Can you give her something for the pain?" He asked as he looked at the nurse.
"Not right now. We will after."
-A few hours later-
Monica arrived at the hospital. "I didn't get the message until just now. What happened? Are they okay?" She asked looking at the two sleeping children.
"I'm a horrible father. I dropped Erica. I was going to take them to the store like you asked and she decided to throw a tantrum because she didn't want to go. So I picked her up and she wouldn't stop moving so she fell. I-I'm awful. She has a concussion and stitches because of me." He said as he stared at the floor.
"Chandler it was an accident. You are not a horrible father."
"If I had held onto her better or if I had held her differently, she wouldn't have fallen. It's all my fault."
"No it's not." Monica said as she sat down beside him and hugged him.
"Daddy, it's okay. You not bad. You are the bestest daddy ever. I was bad. I sorry." Erica said quietly.
They hadn't noticed she was awake. Chandler smiled at her. "Thanks sweetie. It's okay."
Erica got up, walked over to him, and sat on his lap. "You welcome daddy. I love you."
"I love you too."
Jack woke up and walked over to Monica who placed him on her lap. "Are you kay?" He asked as he looked at Erica.
"It kinda hurts still a little."
Jack kissed her head. "Better now?"
"Yes Jacky, thank you." Erica smiled at her brother
