She stared at the big crevice that used to be her town, the town were she
used to live; and memories flooded her senses, overwhelming her with
emotions
"I love you" Buffy said to Spike as the sunlight poured through him
"No, you don't" He said looking at her and smiling. "But thanks anyway"
He hadn't believed her, but she hadn't been lying, she did love him. She just wished she had the chance to show him. She wished so hard that he was there with her; she wanted to let him know everything. But he was gone.
"I wanted you to know, that I love the way you laugh" she picked up her head and searched the air for the voice that sounded so much like Spike's, the voice that sounded like it was singing in her ear. "I wanna hold you high and steal away your pain away".
There was no mistaking that voice, it was Spike, and she looked around at her friends to see if they heard to but they seemed oblivious, but they were all staring at her. "I keep your photograph; and I know it serves me well" there it was, it was beautiful singing in her opinion and the lyrics were haunting her memories. "I wanna hold you high and steal your pain" she smiled a watery smile and softly sang along with him
"Because I'm broken, when I'm lonesome and I don't feel right when you're gone away" her friends were staring more, afraid she'd gone insane, she let one tear slip down her cheek
"You've gone away" sang Spike's voice 'you did actually' she thought to her self "you don't feel me in here anymore"
She closed her eyes and let the unheard music wash over her, she surprised everyone by singing loud and clear "The worst is over now, and we can breathe again" Suddenly there was a presence behind her and she knew it was Spike, he wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her close to his chest, she still sang "I wanna hold you high and steal my pain away" she closed her hands over the arms clasped around her waist and leaned into his chest "there's so much left to learn, and no one left to fight. I wanna hold you high and steal your pain".
She could smell him, he was pressed so close to her "Because I'm broken, when I'm open, and I don't feel like I am strong enough". His voice was next her ear and his warm breathe washed over her "'Cause I'm broken, when I'm lonesome, and I don't feel right when you're gone".
She felt the arms unwrap around her waist, and she opened her eyes that she had kept closed. She turned around ready to greet Spike. But there wasn't anyone there, behind her at least. All of her friends were staring at her. But no Spike, not anywhere, except for buried under the ruble that was once Sunnydale. She let lose and cried, tears streaming loosely down her face. Her friends stared at her bewildered. Except for Willow and Xander, who knew just what it felt like to lose someone you love.
