What Was For The Best

Okay.

So here I'm lying in bed.

My new wife Thayet sleeps beside me, her form gently sprawled across the bed.

Alanna's back…

But she has George now.

They are betrothed.

She chose the thief over me.

In the desert, she… she said I was a prig, and I must admit, now that I look back on it, I was extremely stuckup.

George, however, has always been extremely supportive of everything she's done and will do. George and I only became friends because of Alanna. She was the one who introduced him to me.

She went from being scorned for becoming a knight to being world-reknown (more so than myself.)

She's even saved my life!

Twice!

I just don't know how she does it…

Come to think of it,

Things wouldn't have worked out between us.

          Honestly.

We're both so stubborn that we propably would have killed each other out of frustration.

Not only that, but she wouldn't have gotten the Dominion Jewel, because we wouldn't have fallen out.

          Nope.

I think I like life the way it is.

          The point, I guess, is

Though I can't say that I don't love her, I can say that I understand why things wouldn't have worked out.

          "Jon?"

          "Yes, Thayet?"

          "What are you doing up?"

          "Thinking, Thayet. Just thinking."

          "Oh. Okay."

          Besides,

          "Jon?"

          "Yes, Thayet?"

          "I love you."

I think I chose the best person to take her place.

          "I love you too, Thayet."
